Electret condenser
From the course: Microphone Techniques: Essentials
Electret condenser
- [Instructor] A slight variation of the condenser mic is the electret condenser mic. The simple difference between these two mics is that the electret capsule is permanently polarized, therefore phantom power is not required to provide polarizing voltage to the capsule. But the electret mic still requires phantom power to boost the capsule-level signal to mic level.
