- [Instructor] Here's the frequency response chart for another Shure microphone, the Beta 87. The Beta 87 is a condenser microphone so it responds well to transients but it's also designed to be used in a handheld vocal setting. So you can see that the primary frequency response line rolls off quite a bite starting around 1K and then at 200 hertz and 100 hertz it's really taking a nose dive. So this microphone by design is used in a close miking application but the capsule being a condenser design is capable of capturing transients just the way any other condenser microphone would be able to. Here we can tell that although it rolls of on the low-end, there are still a couple of presence peaks in the high-end and it really keeps going up to about 20 kilohertz even though it drops off. But these presence peaks here are a lot like the SM58. There's a peak here between four and 5K and then there's another peak up here at 10 kilohertz and that's going to help accentuate the intelligibility…
