- There's an old saying, "You can't boil the ocean." It means don't take on impossible tasks. But the thing is, you can boil the ocean, if you do it one drop at a time. You can solve really big problems, if you understand that they're really made up of a bunch of smaller problems. And by focusing on those problems you can control, narrowing the scope of those problems, and then finding the root causes, you'll not only keep problems from repeating, but you can also stop an accumulation of many small problems from becoming big, complicated ones.
