Harmonize a melody through a bass line
- I want to take a look at one more way to harmonize a melody, with regards to harmonic rhythm. Let me show you how we can harmonize a melody through a bass line. Sometimes, we can view the bass as an independent counter melody to the melody of a song, and sometimes, these counter melodies are even more memorable than the actual melodies themselves. Great examples of bass parts to popular songs that function as secondary melodies are Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust", Chic's "Good Times", and The Beatles' "Come Together". Often when composing songs like this, the bass line comes first, and the melody is built around it. I created a new song example for you where I built a melody around a bass line. The song is called "What You're Feeling".
