How to make the case for team coaching
- When team leaders haven't experienced team coaching, how do they know that they need and want it? Buying large, team leaders and sponsors don't care what we call an intervention. They just want to know how it will improve current and future performance, and what effort they're going to have to put in to achieve the results that they want. A critical question here is, do you want a quick fix or a long-term solution? If they want a quick fix, the answer may be consultancy, facilitation or team building. If they want a longer term solution, one that allows them to respond to change as or even before it happens, that's going to take more effort. Because it requires sometimes radical change in how the team relates to each other, to their work and to their stakeholders. But by building capability and capacity, the team will be able to respond faster and more effectively to change even highly disruptive change.
