Hi LinkedIn community! I'm coming to you with the big news, so grab your cup of tea or coffee and get ready! ☕ What's so great about it, you might ask? Because it's about the use of AI in healthcare, and it's also about women's breast cancer. An AI tool called Mia has successfully identified tiny signs of breast cancer in 11 women that were missed by human doctors during mammograms. Mia was piloted alongside NHS clinicians and analysed the mammograms of more than 10,000 women. Early detection of breast cancer is crucial for successful treatment, as cancerous tumours smaller than 15mm have a 90% survival rate over the next five years. ❗ Barbara was one of 11 patients whose cancer was flagged by Mia, but had not been detected on her scan when it was reviewed by the hospital's radiologists. Without the help of the AI tool, Barbara's cancer may not have been detected until her next routine mammogram three years later. This is how AI is revolutionising cancer care - not by replacing doctors, but by augmenting their capabilities. 🤝 #ArtificialIntelligence #RevolutionizingCancerCare #MedicalBreakthroughs https://lnkd.in/d_jVZkUp

In a recent healthcare breakthrough, AI was able to spot breast cancer four years before it developed. Researchers at MIT have developed a system that utilizes artificial intelligence to predict the likelihood of someone developing breast cancer. That's quite amazing, in my opinion. Radiologists' workload can be cut by almost 30% thanks to this AI technology. Not only that, but it can also reduce cancer detection rates by 13 percent! What's shocking is that the AI was put to the test on some of the most difficult cancer cases, where radiologists had missed the early breast cancer symptoms. And guess what? It was able to effectively diagnose the illness in those cases. Say what you want about AI, but you can't deny its potential benefits in healthcare. I would love to know your thoughts on this. We’re excited to share our revolutionary AI-based pipeline for early lung cancer screening developed by the Amity team, now published in prestigious Lancet South East Asia. This technology could transform lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, especially in resource-limited settings. Our research analyzed data from over 2,200 lung cancer patients and developed an AI model, AIPS-N, for automated detection and characterization of lung nodules from CT scans. This was combined with clinical data in a second model, AIPS-M, to predict EGFR mutations with high accuracy. This could lead to early detection, improved survival rates, reduced healthcare costs, and more equitable access to quality lung cancer care. 📚 Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eqWmD9eb #lungcancer #ai #aiforhealthcare #aiforhealth #precisionmedicine #personalizedmedicine #medicalinnovation #healthcaretechnology #earlydetection #cancerresearch #cancerdiagnosis #healthcareequity #globalhealth #medtech #breakthrough #innovation #cancercare
