As a qualified individual who self-identifies as a veteran and claims protected veteran status when applying for jobs, I've noticed a common trend. Despite meeting the qualifications for roles, progressing to a phone screening is a challenge. It raises the question: do employers truly consider these statuses, or have they become checkboxes for appearances? Navy Recruiting Command is hiring Reserve Sailors to serve on 2-year Definite Recall orders to active-duty as production recruiters throughout the United States. Open to all ratings. In addition, we are looking for Sailors to serve on 2-year Definite Recall orders in a support capacity in the rates of YN, PS, LS, and MC. Eligibility: Open to E5/E6 SELRES and IRR Sailors Must have a minimum of 2 years left on current contract. Must be a have all Admin, Medical, Training requirements up-to-date May need to complete additional medical/dental screening for production roles Production Recruiters: Recruiters will attend NORU and earn the Recruiter Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC). You will then work for a local NTAG recruiting active duty and NAT programs. NTAG Support: You will work at the NTAG HQ in-rate in a support capacity. Roles vary across multiple ratings including YN, PS, LS, and MC. For YN and PS support, CPPA NEC is preferred. With both opportunities you will enjoy full active duty pay, medical and dental benefits, BAH, BAS, 30-days paid vacation, up to $450/month in special duty pay, eligibility for tuition assistance, and civilian job protection under the USERRA Act while serving.now! These opportunities also accelerate your entitlement to draw non-regular (Reserve) retirement pay on a month-for-month basis, once eligible. You must be highly motivated, possess a strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and have fluency in your rate. Quick PSA: Companies that promote hiring veterans need to have someone on their team who can interpret veterans' skill sets and provide the right opportunities. It's not classy to promote a job to a veteran and then decline their candidacy because they don't have 3-5 years of experience in the same position. If you're set on hiring for a position that requires 3-5 years of the same position elsewhere, you're not seeking growth for your organization or development of your associates. This could be a red flag for job seekers looking for a company that values their employees. #veterans #jobsearch #careeradvice
