This needs to be treated with caution, because children can sometimes take delight in filling each other with exaggerated stories of their new school (well, my older sister did 😋). But if you can find a kind and trustworthy older pupil, then your child can get a much more pupil-orientated view of the school and get to ask much more personal questions, rather than academic ones. Try to avoid negative rabbit holes, but this can be a great way to ease the mind, especially if your child knows and trusts the older pupil. 🏫 It's that time of year when thoughts of attending school open days might just be creeping onto your to-do list. Savvy parents know that open days are one small cog in the cycle of choosing the right school for their child. Reading inspection reports, checking out internet chat forums, listening to other parents’ experiences and talking to individual teachers are all important too. We strongly recommend The Good Schools Guide as your ‘set text’ for if you still can’t see the wood from the trees! Keeping with the back to school theme - below is an article from PBS kids for parents about school readiness. While many may think readiness is as easy as buying supplies📓📕📖, new shoes, and lots of hand sanitizer it is more than that. Parents & children may have anxiety about homework, new teachers, new routines, and so much more. Included in the article are a few checklists that can help lessen the stress or anxiety of going back to school! But, a new pair of shoes never hurt to celebrate back to school 🤗 https://lnkd.in/gzBhUDdD
