Last week, the American Opportunity Index released a first-of-a-kind ranking of the top 50 employers that can offer recent high school graduates with the best pathway to a sustaining career and increased compensation. As traditional colleges falter in an evolving education and employment landscape, more Gen Z & Gen A are realizing the viability of jumping directly from high school to career training. And many brands are catching on, offering young employees a more flexible, and reactive education and training curriculum - one that not only leaves young people without debt, but also provides a much better chance of full time employment. 💡 One example? AT&T offering young people nano degree certifications, virtual internships, GEDs, and an internship program specifically for students from unique backgrounds and underrepresented communities. “7,000 paid internships, 35+ sectors, 1,000+ organisations all in just four years”… Last week, The 10,000 Interns Foundation celebrated the publication of our first impact report! The foundation set out to provide 10,000 internships to underrepresented talent, first with our flagship programme, 10,000 Black Interns, later supplemented by the addition of 10,000 Able Interns. Our mission is to change the face of British business, and 7,000 internships later, we’re off to a strong start. Our first impact report explores and quantifies the extent of the foundation’s footprint, and is a great representation of our journey so far.
