What if a metropolitan park could be designed as a vibrant carpet of activities? Earlier this year, we had the privilege of designing a metropolitan-scale park in Astana, Kazakhstan—a space that goes beyond the traditional idea of a city park. Inspired by the rich heritage of Kazakhstan’s nomadic tribes, we envisioned this park as a massive, colorful carpet where every “pixel” serves as a unique activity or infrastructure. This innovative design transforms the park into a dynamic space, catering to people of all ages and becoming a true metropolitan attraction. The project blends cultural symbolism with contemporary urban design, pushing the boundaries of what public spaces can be.
