The new regulation would benefit the environment, but some say that it is at the cost of the trucking industry. The American Trucking Associations, the OOIDA, and GOP leaders such as Pete Ricketts have voiced their views of the stricter limits on greenhouse gas emission regulation that the trucking sector will face if Phase 3 of the EPA goes into effect. What are your thoughts? #Trucking #USA #CDL #Logistics #EPA

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just released the Phase 3 greenhouse gas emissions standards for the trucking industry.♻️🚚 These standards were finalized on March 29, 2024 and they build on the Phase 2 standards that were adopted on October 25, 2016. The Phase 3 standards are estimated to prevent 1 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the next three decades in North America. The new rules, will take effect for vehicles model years 2027 through 2032. Cummins Diesel Gate: Cummins to pay record-setting $1.675 billion US environmental fine ! -" Truck engine maker Cummins Inc has agreed in principle to pay a $1.675 billion fine for installing cheat/defeat devices on hundreds of thousands of engines to allow them to emit excess pollution, 🦨💨👃🤮🤢 the largest-ever civil penalty for a Clean Air Act violation, the U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said, "preliminary estimates suggest that defeat devices on some Cummins engines have caused them to produce "thousands of tons of excess emissions" of nitrogen oxides." Misleading Ads On EPA Car Emissions Rule Ignore The Real Benefits Recently, the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers Association started running misleading ads in key swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania about new proposed standards for car emissions from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The ads falsely claim that EPA is “rushing to ban new gasoline cars.” But the spots are nothing more than a scare tactic. Not only is there no “gasoline car ban,” but EPA’s proposal would boost the American economy, improve public health, and make the U.S. more competitive globally. #airpollution #publichealth #caremissions #epa Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) MoEF&CC US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) #NCAP #environmentalhealth #climatechange #exposure #humanhealth https://lnkd.in/g49KBP-e

On March 29, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles – Phase 3 for model years 2027 through 2032. These standards will apply to heavy-duty vocational vehicles, including delivery trucks, refuse haulers, public utility trucks, tractors, and transit, shuttle, and school buses. These rules replace the Phase 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) standards for on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines that were promulgated established in 2016. The new rule will be effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

Biden wants trucks to go electric. The Environmental Protection Agency finalized rules yesterday to cut down greenhouse gas emissions from heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and buses, which create a quarter of US transportation-related emissions. Similar to the rules the administration recently established for cars, the new regulations don’t explicitly require EVs, but they limit the allowable emissions in a way that will probably push manufacturers to go in that direction or embrace hybrid or fuel cell options when they start taking effect in 2027. https://lnkd.in/g76Dr-e6

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s preferred standards take carbon dioxide #emissions from 152 grams per mile in 2026 to 73 in 2032, a 52% reduction. The limits would reach 99 grams per mile by 2029. But under the alternative that environmental groups expect the EPA to adopt, the standards would be eased in the first three years, reaching 112 grams by 2029 but still hitting 73 in 2032.

The EPA has published new greenhouse gas emission regulations for heavy-duty vehicles, but the transportation industry and states are pushing back. The rules are set to take effect in June 2024, but a coalition of 24 states have filed a petition to block the rules, arguing they exceed the EPA’s authority. Adams and Reese attorney Edwin Grant Laizer discusses the EPA standards of #Phase3 and its opposition. The legal challenge hinges on the Supreme Court's "major questions doctrine," which requires explicit congressional authorization for significant regulatory actions. On Good Friday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalised greenhouse gas emissions standards for medium to heavy vehicles, model years 2027-2032. The CV industry has since had time to register its disappointment with the regulations, claiming that they would negatively impact the U.S. supply chain. The EPA claims they will reduce GHG emissions by 1 billion tons to 2055 and provide $13bn in annualised “net benefits to society". The Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association — representing Daimler Truck North America, Volvo Trucks North America, Cummins Inc., and others — criticised the rules in strong terms, predicting that they will become "the most challenging, costly, and potentially disruptive heavy-duty emissions rule in history”. Click on the link to find a detailed breakdown of the new emission standards and for the full document (attached as a PDF) published by the EPA. https://lnkd.in/e6e-MVxG

The Final Rule establishes new, gradually more restrictive, emissions limits for light-duty (passenger cars and light trucks) and medium-duty (Class 2b and 3 vehicles – large pickups and vans) vehicles for Model Years (MY) 2027-2032 for greenhouse gases (GHGs) as well as emissions of non-methane organic gases (NMOG), particulate matter (PM2.5), and nitrogen oxide (NOx).

Amidst regulatory developments, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is on the brink of finalizing stringent emissions regulations for truck engines starting from the 2027 model year and extending through to 2032. The expectation has sparked considerable debate within the industry, with the American Trucking Associations and independent owner-operators expressing deep reservations about the rule’s feasibility and financial implications. https://lnkd.in/g6YKS69i
