When a truck gets stuck in the middle of the road, the CMV owner typically calls a towing service. This situation leads to immediate profit loss for the carrier due to service delays, diminished customer satisfaction, and additional maintenance costs. To make matters worse, they often face exorbitant towing fees. For years, towing companies have been accused of predatory practices, leaving CMV owners burdened with undisclosed charges. To address these issues, the FMCSA will hold a public meeting on June 21, 2024, to gather carriers' experiences and opinions about towing companies. The FMCSA aims to create a more transparent environment where towing fees are well-communicated and fair. Your input can help shape policies that protect CMV owners from unfair charges. Will you be joining? #FMCSA #Trucking #CMVowners #CDL

The province has also released a portal where consumers can now submit complaints about tow and storage operators who violate the new regulations. Read below to learn more. #KnowYourTow #ONPoli

Logistics and Supply Chain Management Professional, Host of "Stop the Scam!" Podcast, The Double Broker Bounty Hunter
I dispatch for a carrier that has 20 years experience behind the wheel. He paused his authority for 6 months 2 years ago to recover from CANCER. He has had dozens of DOT inspections in the life of his authority but none in the past two years. I have been rejected by over a dozen brokers TODAY because of a "lack of inspections". A few months ago, DOT instructed weigh stations to not permit voluntary inspections anymore, which was the only way good carriers could get inspections. The only other way to get an inspection is to be doing something unsafe in front of an officer in order to get pulled over for an inspection. Even the "random" inspections at stations is predicated on observing an issue on camera to flag the truck on the way into the scale. Compliance teams need to reconsider the "need an inspection" requirement. Soon, the only carriers that will meet that requirement are the carriers that operate in an unsafe manner, and is that who you want running your freight? A good carrier won't have inspections because they run safely, and your brokerage will miss out on running with good carriers all together. #carriers #brokers #complaince #inspections #FMCSA #DOT

These are the owner-ops/carriers we compete with on the trucking spot market. Many of us work hard to conduct our transport businesses safely, lawfully, and diligently to maintain a good repertoire. Yet, many shippers/customers would much rather pay low prices, not realizing that the cheaper carrier often has no proper insurance coverage and sometimes no experience safely hauling the customer's expensive cargo. It's the unfortunate nature of our industry.
I think this guy got the load for about .50 per mile 😲😬😬 Unfortunately, this is what happens when you want your freight shipped as cheap as possible. When I tell a customer a price, it's for a good reason. Not for me to make a ton of money, it's for my driver to make enough to pay their bills and get the load there safely and correctly.
