I was informed today that Wegmans Pharmacy won't accommodate a patient-preferred Epinephrine Auto-injector. If you've ever needed one, you know Mylan is superior. It comes in a protective case and from everyone I've talked to, it's the clear winner over Teva Pharmaceuticals. I've even been told by someone that their child's school nurse is only trained on the Mylan brand/generic version and wouldn't accept the one that their pharmacy dispensed. Same medication? Sure. But one is clearly easier to use and is more intuitive if you've never been trained to use one. It's bad enough that #PBMs will only pay for certain manufacturers, we don't need pharmacies limiting patients too. Especially on an Epi-Pen. It's not a medication that costs thousands of dollars just to sit on the shelf and potentially expire. So, Wegmans, who is steering the ship?
