"I want to work in Private Equity" was probably one of the most common phrases we heard most last year from numerous Analysts / Associates / Investment Managers, when considering new roles. In Sydney, it feels that there are many varieties of what "Private Equity" (PE) within Real Estate looks like and a lot depends on where in the world the key personnel of the business originate from whether it be APAC, Europe or the US. 1. In the traditional sense of the term, there are a few PE Real Estate shops in Sydney that will exclusively look to buy other companies and strategise their performance on behalf of their investors. 2. However, there are many excellent firms that are capable of achieving "Private Equity style returns" purely from their direct property investments, (typically 15%+). 3. And there are also great firms that will invest in other funds as a Limited Partner. Regardless of your understanding of PE, we have a number of roles this year with companies investing across all three strategies across differing functions of the respective business including: - Investments - Fund Analytics, Capital Management - Asset Management - Corporate Asset Management The key common attribute is the adaptable commercial mindset.
