A common thread between our cohort companies? They put the patient first.💙 As mentioned below, this was one factor that led Monica Schmiede and Jessica Thurmond to 1501 Health. Together, this duo founded Athelo Health a wraparound, evidence-based platform to help women navigate all stages of cancer treatment. Below, find out how they started their journey to 1501 Health, all thanks to a simple conversation with Soo Jeon at a Rock Health event. #CancerCare #HealthEquity #PatientEngagement #Testimonial

🩺 A Compassionate Approach: When Facing End-of-Life Care Decisions Navigating conversations with doctors when a loved one is in the end stages of life, such as with terminal cancer, can be incredibly hard and challenging. One crucial questions to ask your doctor is, "What would you do in this situation?" This question encourages the doctor to step into your shoes, fostering a more compassionate and thoughtful response. They’re likely to speak less scientifically and more from the heart, providing guidance that is not only medically sound but also sensitive to the emotional weight of the moment. Remember, it's important to have these conversations with care and humanity. Let’s ensure that we approach these difficult times with understanding and kindness. #EndOfLifeCare #CompassionateCare #DoctorPatientCommunication #HealthcareTips #EmpathyInMedicine #PatientCare #LifeDecisions #TerminalCancer #HealthcareJourney #MedicalAdvice #Compassion

One of the hardest things I have done in my years of practice is breaking bad news to a patient being diagnosed with a type of cancer. 3days ago was #WorldCancerDay. The theme for this year is “Together, we challenge those in power”. Initially, I assumed it was for our political leaders only. However, I realised as a health professional in the eyes of my patients, I do have some power. 📌So I am challenged to ✅improve my service delivery to these patients. ✅play my part in making them fight through this path with victory. ✅educate more people on #lifestylemedicine , #lifestylechanges and #cancerprevention ✅advocate for policies on free or subsidized cancer screening methods. “Together, we challenge those in power”. This week marks men’s health week which is all about giving boys and men access to the information, services, and treatment they need to live healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives. For this year's men's health week, the theme is let's talk prostates (and everything else men's health!) 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. If you're over 50, or your dad or brother had it, you're at even higher risk. Unfortunately, a lot of men still put off talking to their GP or a men’s health specialist which is why it’s more important than ever to encourage men to start talking.
