"What's the best way for us to tell our story?" An athletic director asked me this question this morning. In my opinion, the best way to think about it is this. 👉 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 = 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 Think about all the people you impact. They define your brand. Telling their stories is the most authentic and powerful way to tell yours. And for an athletic department (arguably any organization really) that means telling the stories of your... ✅ Athletes ✅ Coaches ✅ Alumni ✅ Donors ✅ Fans ✅ Staff .... and other ambassadors. #fanword #storytelling #studentathletes #nil #nameimagelikeness #ncaa #csc

A sample #sportpsychology/#socialemotionallearning curriculum for sports teams is coming soon through GetPsychedSports.org. It’s #free and put out as an example or a starting point for #schooldistricts #schoolcommunity #sportsleadership #educationalleadership #league #club that have decided to try a 21st century science-based alternative to our current coach-centric system so that #studentathletes have a voice, are treated with respect, and explicitly learn #SEL skills. It’s a #resource to imagine what sports could be teaching.

As professionals, we all lead busy lives, but it's essential to take some time out to give back to our communities. For me, that means coaching cricket teams from our local club three nights a week. Not only does it allow me to spend quality time with my son, but it's also a great way to help young players unwind after school, develop new friendships, and hone their skills in a sport they love. Giving back my time to see these young players grow is an absolute pleasure. Let's all find ways to make a positive impact in our communities, no matter how small. #communityimpact #cricketcoaching #givingback

Hi All, I am running this event on Thursday the 14th March at 18:30 to raise funds as I compete for Team England at the IUKL European Championships next month! In this webinar I will be combining theory and practice to provide insight into my own mindset in training and competition that has helped me move from everyday training to competing for my country. I will be competing in 2x24kg Long Cycle... which basically means I will be cleaning and jerking 2x24kg kettlebells for 10 minutes without a break. You cannot put the bells down. You cannot rest with the bells hanging. It is a real test of strength and endurance. Two of the biggest challenges are: 1. Staying present when your body is screaming at you to stop 2. Managing arousal levels in competition These two points are relevant for many other sports and I hope that my experience can shed some light on how the skills I have learned can transfer into your own training or in how you work with athletes. If you have the time and want to offer your support to help get me to Paris, follow the link below (If £10 is too much, drop me a message and I'll send you a discount code! but I do appreciate every cent). https://lnkd.in/ex2vzpDZ

Coaching youth sports can’t only be about how many games you win and lose. That needs to be the icing on the cake because we taught them how. If has to be about teaching them the game, helping to develop their strengths and abilities, and making an impact on their lives while we have the opportunity. There will always be a “next level” of the game. How did we help them get there and be better than they were? #YouthCoaching

First post for 2024.... Coaches - the GRASS isn't greener. There's a myth about #sport - that somewhere in the world, coaches from different clubs work together respectfully and share ideas, where all parents have a balanced, supportive approach to their child's sporting development, where officials don't get yelled at and abused and where sporting administrators lead professionally with vision, insight, open communication and a genuine deep knowledge of the sport they lead. #Coaches - this place does NOT exist! Sure - people will throw "what about the Scandanavian countries" up as the perfect sporting system. Go visit a few of those nations yourself. Speak with clubs and coaches at grass roots level and you'll find out that there is no perfect model, no perfect system, no perfect nation when it comes to sport - (or anything else for that matter). Add to that - "you play like your place" - i.e. what they're doing isn't replicable outside of the nation that created their own unique sporting system. In my experience, people succeed in spite of the system they work within not because of the system. Having worked in more than 40 countries over the past 30 years, I promise you - the same issues exist more or less everywhere - to a greater or lessor degree. What matters is how you choose to respond to them. You can moan and complain about all the things that are wrong with your sport OR you can choose to be the shining light - the visionary - the change leader - the person who succeeds regardless of the challenges and difficulties. The problem is the way forward. It is unlikely you can ever fix all the problems that exist in your own sport - but that's not the issue. What gives all of us energy - and a reason to get up in the morning - is that we continually strive and fight to try to make things just a little better everyday. It’s that time of year!! Life skills workshops will kick off next week. I’ll set the tone to remind our returners and our new Jayhawks why accountability is key for success on and off the field. We will take a deep dive into influence (the information we take in that influences us as well as our actions influencing others). Some other topics we will cover this spring are transitioning and having a parallel plan. While we pursue our football careers, we can still be working on our plan for life after ball and how to maximize our platforms as student athletes to help help 10 or 20 years down the road. We will cover topics around taxes and gambling addiction and the dangers that gambling can have within this age group. Keep Chopping 2024! #playerdevelopment #playerengagement #personaldevelopment #professionaldevelopment #athletes #lifeaftersports #nfl #studentathletes #football #lifeskills #maximizeyourpotential #kufootball #ncaafootball #strivingforexcellence
