It's all about one-waying it 🚀
A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were sitting, anxiously on a flight to Edinburgh. We were moving there, with zero idea of where we were going to live, less than a week to figure it out — and no return ticket.
Moving to Scotland had never been far from our conversations for the last few years. We'd always promised ourselves that if we were going to live in the UK for any length of time, no matter what, it would be in Scotland.
It's hard to explain why. It's a feeling.
Maybe it's because between us we've lived in seven different countries and have learned to trust that gut feeling when you find one that fits.
So when a window opened up, we threw some stuff in a bag and took that one-way flight because getting a return would have given us a chance to back out.
We hit the ground running, literally, and after an overwhelming amount of kindness from pretty much everyone we've met here and a lot of luck, we're now based in Edinburgh — and absolutely love it.
A massive thank you to the people who have helped us out along the way and to Southwest England which had been our home for the last year or so.
Friends, if anyone's passing through Edinburgh, give me a shout. I really mean it. I've already stumbled across some world-class running trails, epic coffee spots and bakeries to die for.
Scotland is rapidly becoming what can only be described as a true end-to-end space nation. It's a country which builds homegrown satellites (at scale) and launch vehicles, will launch them from local spaceports and harnesses the data for a wealth of downstream applications.
It's this integration of disciplines, logistical simplicity and collaborative spirit that makes Scotland an ideal test bed for emerging categories of space services.
What is happening here is an inspiration and I'm grateful to be a little closer to the remarkable people driving it forward 🏴
Thank you for having us.
