Five years ago, I made a promise to myself—a yearly digital detox. For two weeks, I’d turn off my phone, step away from the noise, and just be. No emails, no social media. Just me, my thoughts, and the world around me. This year marked five years of keeping that promise. I went to Hawaii with a few books, a 2 year old in potty training, my 4 year old and my wife. 4 things I learned from the books: **The Richest Man in Babylon** reminded me that financial wisdom doesn’t have to be complicated. The 5 laws of gold—simple principles, yet so often overlooked—reaffirmed that sometimes the best advice is the oldest. **The Psychology of Money** challenged the way I think about decisions. It showed me how to view when to make rational decisions vs reasonable ones in pursuit of navigating life’s complexities. **As a Man Thinketh** brought home a truth I’ve always known but sometimes forget—our thoughts crystallize our habits, and our habits shape our lives. **The Way of a Warrior Kid** hit me hard with a simple but profound lesson: how we show up in life, in the smallest and the biggest moments, defines us. It’s not just about what we do, but the spirit in which we do it. But beyond the wisdom in these books, the most meaningful lesson from these two weeks was the importance of being present. In a world where we’re constantly connected, it’s easy to lose sight of ourselves. Stepping away from the noise gave me space to listen—not just to the books, but to my own inner voice. As I return to the digital world, I do so with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose. It takes a ton of discipline but I encourage you to try a digital detox, even if just for a day. You might be surprised at what you find when you let yourself truly be present. #DigitalDetox

Amazing, Kishan! I love this. With all the distractions constantly around us, it’s so easy to lose sight of not only ourselves but also the little things that make life meaningful—for us and for those who matter most. Your commitment to being present is truly inspiring.
