One of my favourite questions to ask business owners is “What do you want?”. All too often I’ll be met with a response which talks about turnover, profits, clients, team, offices… So, I have to repeat the question “No, what do YOU want?”. 🤔 Work out what you want personally and make that central to what your business does. You need to increase your income to have the lifestyle you want – so grow your business to increase profits. ✅ You want to work 4 (or less!) days a week – so get the systems and processes and team in place that allow you to do that. ✅ You want to have 6 (or more!) weeks holiday a year – so get those holidays booked and plan all your work around them. ✅ 💡 Knowing what you want can often be a light bulb moment - that and the realisation that it really is achievable. 💯 I work closely with many clients to help them work out what they want and then put a plan in place to achieve it. Because having clarity and peace of mind, knowing what we want, enables us to make better business decisions to improve our personal lives... It enables us to be less stressed and enjoy time away from the business so much more. 😃 #businessowners #betterbusinessdecisions #peaceofmind

Does your business run better when you're out? While many of us feel like we can never take a day off, we often learn that things run a lot better when we're away. And if you think about it, it's not a surprise. When you're working, you're probably: - Involved in every decision - Answering every question - Putting out every fire But on vacation? You have no choice but to: - Trust your team - Let go of perfection - Focus on what truly needs your attention Your business thrives because you're not there to gum up the works. Here's the hard truth: If your business runs better without you, you're probably too involved in the wrong things. The solution isn't to take endless vacations, though wouldn't that be nice? It's to run your business as if you're always on vacation: 1. Document essential processes 2. Trust and empower your team 3. Focus only on what genuinely needs YOU (or what you really love doing) What would change in your business if you operated as if you were leaving for vacation next week?

Can You Claim Food and Drink as a Business Expense? 🍽️ In the UK, claiming food and drink as an expense isn’t always straightforward. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the rules: ✅ Travel Meals: If you’re on a business trip away from your usual place of work, meals can be claimed as an expense. ✅ Client Meetings: If you’re meeting with clients or potential customers, food and drink can be classed as entertaining, but these are not tax-deductible. ✅ Everyday Meals: Meals you have during your regular working day can’t be claimed as an expense unless you work from home and it’s part of a pre-agreed expense policy. Confused about what you can and can’t claim? We’re here to help you navigate these tricky rules! 💻 www.averymartin.co.uk ☎️ 0191 484 1745 📥 hello@averymartin.co.uk
