Absolutely, the dedication of land surveyors cannot be overstated. They often endure challenging conditions to ensure that construction and development projects have accurate measurements and boundaries. Recognizing their efforts is crucial not just for morale, but for the overall success of projects. A supportive manager who is actively involved can make a significant difference. By understanding the daily challenges faced by surveyors and providing guidance, a manager can foster unity and trust within the team. This involvement not only makes the team feel valued but also drives them to perform at their best. Proper recognition and support from management are essential in maintaining a motivated and dedicated workforce.😎

One of my core and fundamental beliefs in operations management is that the success of any park lies in the understanding that the team is the center of the park, acting as the heartbeat and energy of the park. When a team works together harmoniously and cooperatively, the entire park flourishes. This harmony will translate into all aspects of the park, including positive guest experiences and efficient procedures. Teamwork can be compared to a puzzle, where each team member represents a unique piece with its own shape and pattern. Just like when you look at individual puzzle pieces, you can get a glimpse of what the final picture might look like, but the true completion of the picture occurs when all the pieces are properly placed together. WHAT VALUE DO YOU PUT ON TEAMWORK? In an era where more people work flexibly and remotely and staff changes happen just about as often as a new moon, it's a good ideas to ask what value do you put on teamwork. Having goals, structures and systems are one thing but is your team aligned to each other to get to where they are going? Or are they flying solo and hoping for the best. We know that teams are way more likely to succeed if they're great at teamwork and to be great at anything you need to practice it, review it, reflect on it and try it again. It doesn't happen by accident or default. It needs to be worked on.

In every team, there are those who see their work as a series of mundane tasks, and then there are those who see themselves as part of something greater. The story of the three stone masons working on a grand cathedral perfectly illustrates this difference in perspective. While the first two masons saw their work as cutting stones and earning a living, the third mason saw himself as building a magnificent cathedral. This is the power of shared purpose. When each individual sees themselves as an integral part of a greater whole, their work becomes imbued with a sense of passion and meaning. The result is not just productivity, but true teamwork that creates outcomes that surpass expectations. So, let's remember the lesson of the three stone masons and strive to see ourselves as part of something greater. Let's embrace the spirit of shared commitment and work together to achieve our collective goals. #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #SharedPurpose

A BIG LESSON IN SELF LEADERSHIP FROM MY CONSTRUCTION TEAM 👷♂️ So, we're almost done with the home reno saga, and I found myself playing boss during the final touches. Here's the lowdown from hanging out with the construction crew: 😎 𝐌𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬: Mat was putting up my photo wall, and there I was, hawk-eyeing his every move. But this guy, he was unbothered, singing away as I directed him. Made me wonder, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘬? Could I pull off the same cool vibe as Mat? 🧘♂️ 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐚'𝐬 𝐙𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞: Now, Raja, the flooring guru, was like a Zen master. In the middle of all the chaos, he was quietly and precisely doing his thing. Got me thinking – how often do I get bored with the same old routine, and 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘻𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘙𝘢𝘫𝘢 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘺 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵? 😜 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡: So, my sister had some issues with the height of a picture frame after Mustar did all the precise work. No big deal for him – he just flashed a smile, said no worries, and got back to fixing it. Got me questioning my own customer service game – 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳-𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘴 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳? Lesson learned – leadership is not just about herding a team; it's about nailing self-leadership first. Who knew home renovations could be so enlightening, right? 🛠️✨

"Goals, values and rules are three distinct and complementary ways to bond team members. Together, these elements create the solidarity needed for group members to become a true team. Goals are the foundational element of teams. They provide a shared purpose and direction for the team's efforts. Once goals are established, values and rules then come into play and define how those goals will be achieved. Values are the team's guiding principles for interacting with one another and external stakeholders. These principles define the expected behaviours within the team, such as integrity, collaboration and trust. Rules translate values into action. Unlike aspirational values, they are specific and require compliance. They set clear boundaries for team behaviour and ensure actions align with both the team's goals and its core values."

Starting hump day with a laugh. I know since COVID so many folks are working from home. And I really miss being in an office. I miss the collaboration , the water cooler laughs and the personal connections. As a leader I try to keep my team close to each other as much as possible and it’s a bit more challenging with having folks in different cities. But I always look for people that value people so they buy into the culture of taking care of each other and winning as a team. We manage to feel whole as a team and have a personal relationship. In 2024 , put yourself out and be the connection you seek. One last question…. Do you prefer working from home or from an office and why?

"Union is strength" means that when people come together and work as a team, they can achieve much more than if they were working alone. It's like when you join forces with your friends to build a sandcastle at the beach—you can make something amazing together that you couldn't do on your own. Think about a bundle of sticks. One stick alone is easy to break, but when you tie them all together, they become strong and sturdy. Similarly, when people unite and support each other, they become stronger and more powerful as a group. Whether it's fighting for rights, solving problems, or reaching big goals, teamwork and cooperation make all the difference. It's a reminder that we're stronger when we stand together, helping each other out and working towards a common purpose. Credit for the video goes to the owner of the it.
