Reflection! The Art of Photographic Storytelling and Imagination. #motivation #wisdom #creativity #photography #storytelling #imagination #art #artgallery #creative #share #contemporaryart #people #emotionalintelligence #philosophy #artist This is a reflection of an image that shocked the world and a technique that's found its place. From the landing beaches of Normandy on D-day June 6th, 1944, to a now more modern-day photographic art form in its own right. ICM is a style that was I suppose unintentionally presented to the world through the lens of the famous war photographer, Robert Capa. The works he produced on that day and the photographs that survived the processing (11 in total) have now gone down in the annals of war photographic history. https://lnkd.in/e8bnnzZb But it was a far cry from an intentional photo technique as we know and use it today, and for me, the Robert Capa photo was my first introduction to this unintentional technique and it was fascinating. Capa’s image was of a young American soldier crawling up the Omaha beachhead on D-Day June 6th, 1944. A human and action-packed image that Robert Capa was to capture forever in time. Today this technique can widely be seen on Instagram, Linkedin, and other social media platforms. Some are well-thought-out and others not so. But within the actions of these modern-day images, I believe there are messages and even cries scratched in the motion of each image. Within this artistic blur, we can witness the stressful hustle and bustle of our modern-day society. These images may be a reflection of where we are as a society, or possibly where parts of society are returning to and from. They say you leave a piece of yourself in the image you take! Be that true, then within this simple art form, we can observe the world and how people around us, may be feeling. We can witness this time in action just as Robert Capa witnessed on Omaha Beach in 1944. But hopefully in not such a dramatic fashion.

Photography is inseparable from performance art, because before starting, the performers and photographers involved in the performance have already thought about how to compose the shot. The camera and every element in its composition have meaning. The body in photographic photos, as a photographic language, has become an important part of photographic art. Maria, completed her performance work discussing intimate relationships, and the camera froze the frame, creating this famous work. Imagine if Ulay and Maria were misaligned when taking the photo, or their eyes were not facing each other, would this group of works still exist? It also needs to be questioned whether the presence of the audience is necessary during the performance of performance art. Between performance art and the camera, there is a relationship between watching and being watched. As the perspective being viewed is it a camera or a person? #criticalthinking #art #contemporaryart #curating

Following the success of the UNITY exhibition at The Photography & Video Show, I'm looking for a temporary space to hang the work. Comprised 21 foam-mounted prints (20, 70x70cm and one 70x100cm courtesy of nPhoto) do you know a company with lobby space that might be interested in featuring some/all of the exhibition? UNITY is the fourth international exhibition from my online gallery space, Felt Photographic. What makes it different is that it's curated entirely on the felt sense - from how the panel select images, to how the gallery is arranged, and the space that visitors are invited into. The aim is to bring art back to a more human experience. There's no requirement to know anything about photography or what you're looking at. The invitation is to unlearn everything you've previously been taught, come out of your head, drop into your body and feel the art. Then notice what you're responding strongly too and use this insight to inform you where you're at, what you need and what might change as a result. To change the world, we must first change ourselves, and art helps us do this in the most beautiful way. See more at https://lnkd.in/eu5Y-8SM

"Black and white photography is more than just a visual art form; it strips away the distractions of color, leaving behind the essence of emotion and the soul of the subject." - Unknown. Some images call for color, but sometimes, there is something captivating about a black-and-white photo. The way it invites intimacy with the viewer. Tell me, do you have a preference for color, or do you love a classic black and white like me? #laviephotograph #boudoirphotos #beautyandboudoir #fineartboudoir #portraitphotographer #houstonportraitstudio #houstonportraitphotographer

PH21 Gallery presents: 'Dis/harmony' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition - Harmony is an elusive, perhaps even ineffable aspect of photographic images. The same can be said for disharmony, its potentially disturbing, but often stimulating opposite. While many photographers share the view that the communicative impact of images is enhanced by harmony, there are countless individual artistic interpretations of what makes an image harmonious or disharmonious. Some view harmony primarily as a visual compositional feature, accepting the unusual, the unexpected, or even the disturbing within the realm of compositional harmony or disharmony. For others, harmony is also a thematic concept, and they find harmonious elements in the communicative content of the image, arising from the various interactions depicted. The intentional lack of harmony can also lead to some of the most creative photographic compositions. All photographic genres utilise compositional elements to create the sense of harmony or its opposite. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for its group exhibition themed Dis/harmony. We are seeking submissions from all photographers who consider harmony or disharmony to be a constitutive element in their work and who wish to share their art with a wider international audience through PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; harmony or disharmony may be present as a formal aesthetic feature and can be expressed visually on personal or social levels, whether literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Deadline: October 14, 2024. https://lnkd.in/eaY6e2jj #TheArtList #PH21Gallery #Dis/harmony
