https://lnkd.in/gx_j77wB Over my 25 years of service, I have been a strong proponent of keeping the military non-partisan. I am imagining a better policy solution to protect the health of our female service members vs. the one enacted with language that I'll call "also partisan." Much like different rules apply to service members on-post than off-post, there are ways to work this. This "concern" is nothing compared to the hollow units we are creating. Are we forgetting that we are over 20k short of initial entrants over the past two years? For this issue, the IRR is an option, if the "next war" kick's off, we will get that talent back. Make the IRR period longer if you are concerned. Not like military folks aren't used to periodic changes in the rules, especially those with 10+ years of service. Finally, It will take a little time to get that foothold on adversary soil where the Army will be relevant. If anyone should be concerned, it should be the Air Force and Navy. Arguing over a problem you can solve is a waste of everyone's time, and the media space you could be using to get those recruiting numbers up.

“We urge Congress to rapidly pass the Pay our Troops Act before a lapse in appropriations. Missing a paycheck is a stress our service members should not have to worry about, especially when deployed in harm’s way.” CW4 Jack Du Teil, USA (Ret.) - President, The Military Coalition (TMC) In a new Op-Ed, Mark Belinksy, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)’s Director of Government Relations for Currently Serving and Retired Affairs, stresses that though the federal shutdown has been avoided, more needs to be done. He urges that groups like the TMC urgently need to come together and ensure that servicemembers and retired service members will always receive pay during any lapse in federal funding. The TMC is a group of 35 military and veterans service organizations (MSO/VSOs) that pools advocacy power and has continued to send a clear message to Congress to pass appropriations on time, protect service member pay, and improve the quality of life of those in uniform and their families. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF JD VANCE has a COMBAT ACTION RIBBON? If so, I will update my post: TRUMPERS - Why would you conflate the term WAR with COMBAT, and let's add deployment and deployed for the Marine Public Relations dude. And when you say "saw combat," what does that mean? Dropping bombs or launching missiles from a ship at sea or clearing houses one at a time. What's the technical term? DOOR KICKERS... Trumpers and JD, if you keep splitting hairs, you will become as bald as the ex-President! Let's unpack this. First, "war" and "combat" are not synonymous, just like "truth" and "Trump's Twitter feed." War is... READ MORE HERE 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 https://lnkd.in/eBnf2cPv ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️

Comprehensive duty status reform is critical to full pursuit of integrated deterrence, and has been needed for some time. The reserve components can and should be contributing more to regular, predictable CCMD campaigning to take strain off of active components, while simultaneously enhancing RC capabilities and further building deterrence capacity of the JF. DSR will enable those contributions. Personally, I think it is time to rethink our reserve construct a bit and get away from the antiquated “one weekend a month / 2 weeks a year” tag line, which hasn’t been feasible for quite awhile for several reasons.
Office of Management and Budget should pay attention to the leaders of the Reserve components who continue to support duty status reform. As Chairman of the Independent Commission on the Guard and Reserve in 2008, I recommended this proposal. Every Secretary of Defense since Bob Gates has supported it, and the United States Department of Defense developed a comprehensive and compelling legislative package to implement it. The warfighting commanders strongly favor duty status reform. The latest testimony from our most senior leaders and our Guard and Reserve components strongly favor this. The proposal has been stuck in the bureaucracy at OMB. It’s time to do something. https://lnkd.in/dyDBNrdi

📢 Today, we're highlighting an important call to action from Republican lawmakers urging Army leaders to improve barracks conditions. This letter questions whether the Department of Defense is truly doing everything possible to ensure that both privatized housing and barracks are safe for our soldiers and their families. The letter calls for the Army to adopt industry standards for indoor health and safety to significantly improve living conditions. We stand firmly behind these statements. And urge the Department of Defense to implement IICRC standards. It's crucial to examine the breakdown of budgetary allocations related to military installations and projects. Ensuring that funds are effectively used to create safe and healthy living environments for our service members should be a top priority. Together, we can advocate for better housing standards and a safer future for our military families. 💪🏠 https://lnkd.in/ejhDd7ew #MilitaryHousingCoalition #SafeHousing #SupportOurTroops #ArmyHousing

The news today is that Joe Biden is proposing reforms to the Supreme Court. As with most of his initiatives he seems intent on avoiding the Constitution. The judicial is a separate and independent branch of the government with it's duties outlined in the Constitution. He can of course propose amendments to the Constitution for consideration of congress or he could sign on to the effort to establish a convention of the states; only a few more needed. I'm not opposed to the idea of term limits for SCOTUS, but I have grown even more fond of limits on congressional terms of three for the senate and six for the house. I also believe that similar terms should be implemented for the federal work force limiting total federal service to 18 years. Any tax payer funded retirement should be eliminated and replaced with the same retirement available to any citizen of the United States; no employer match. Healthcare during the time of service whether elected or federal should be sponsored and provided by the VA medical system. Pay for elected members should be pegged to a percentage of the pay for an E8 in the military. Enshrine in the Constitution that the elected member's offices are not hereditary titles; no longer in office you are simply Mr., Ms., Mrs. (or whatever pronoun unless we finally stop the madness) While we're having some fun let's declare Wash DC the ceremonial capital and move the working capital to Offutt Air Force Base (https://www.offutt.af.mil/). Roughly equal distance north to south or east to west borders for CONUS and much closer for Alaska and Hawaii. Plenty of runway to handle flights, great security, middle of the country, and barracks can be established for the house and senate, with housing for the president and cabinet members in officer's quarters. No need for family housing since the family can stay home in the district; service is a sacrifice as any member of the military can attest. The summer and winter in Nebraska should dissuade members from spending so much time away from their districts. With base security it will complicate the efforts of lobbyists to gain access for favors. Eliminate home rule for DC and return the original borders for each state so that they can administer the government and enjoy any tax revenue from visitors to the ceremonial capital.

The media trainer that helps you avoid being misquoted, misunderstood or misrepresented. My team will ensure you get value out of speaking to the press.
I write about communications so I'm going to leave the rightness or wrongness of leaving the 80th anniversary D-day commemorations to other people, there's been enough comment about it. The prime minister himself has issued an apology on X (you can see it below). I've often criticised politicians for not admitting to being wrong when there's clearly been poor judgment or a mistake so I have to give him credit for this much. I also think, though, it's important that there is joined-up thinking. It's not yet two weeks since he and his party were advocating a form of national service as a way of boosting the armed forces as well as young people's quality of life. You don't have to agree with it to accept that it's an idea and a basis for discussion. This, however, makes it doubly odd that the PM ducked out of something so close to the services' heart, particularly as so few (if any, realistically) of the veterans are going to see the next big anniversary in ten years' time. Actions speaking louder than words aside, consistency is an essential in comms. Try always to avoid leaving people wondering who you are and what you stand for. #mediatraining #mediamentorguy #publicrelations https://lnkd.in/eg_Pftdv?
