A snow day is part of your DEI mission and vision. Hear me out! If you’re in Oregon, you might be in the middle of a series of snow days. Meetings are cancelled, power is lost, and people are experiencing some tough conditions. How you make decisions for your staff today is reflective of the work you’ve done to create a culture of equity and inclusion. Does your diverse staff have different needs that are affected by the snow. Whether that is where they live or their physical abilities. Is there an equity lens being used to determine who is an essential worker and do they have the resources they have to work safely? Do people feel included in decision making or are you making decisions for those with the most power and privilege? DEI lives beyond hiring metrics. It is embedded in every decision you make. So when DEI is at risk of being defunded or outright banned, remember it lives in everything we do regardless of naming it or not. So how do you prioritize your staff’s wellness and safety on days like a snow day?

GOOD WORK ENVIRONMENT ❗️ In a place where every morning feels like a fresh start, Where colleagues greet each other with warmth and heart, We share our dreams over a cup of brew, And every challenge is easier when it’s faced by two. We celebrate birthdays with homemade treats, And gather for lunch in a place where laughter meets. We check in on each other on the rough days, And lift each other up in a hundred small ways. When the workload’s heavy and the deadlines are tight, We pitch in together, making the load light. We brainstorm freely, no idea too wild, Every voice matters, from the veteran to the new child. We applaud the successes, big and small, And when mistakes happen, we don’t let each other fall. We learn and grow, hand in hand, In this supportive, understanding land. In this space, we’re more than just a team, We’re friends, companions, part of a shared dream. A good work environment feels like home, A place where we truly belong and roam.💙

Strategic Procurement Leader | Negotiator by Trade, Collaborator by Design | 20+ Years in Pharma and Healthcare: Manufacturing, R&D, Biologics, Clinical and Comparator Sourcing | Driving Global Supply Chain Excellence
A few years ago, while visiting my child's school, I stumbled upon a profound quote that has since become a guiding principle in both my personal and professional life: "Some kids are smarter than you. Some kids have cooler clothes than you. Some kids are better at sports than you. It doesn't matter. You have your thing too. Be the kid who can get along. Be the kid who is generous. Be the kid who is happy for other people. Be the kid who does the right thing. Be the nice kid." This powerful message transcends the schoolyard and holds valuable lessons for navigating the complexities of life and career. In a world where comparison often breeds insecurity and self-doubt, it's crucial to recognize and celebrate our unique strengths and qualities. Instead of fixating on what others may have or excel at, let's focus on cultivating our own distinct talents and attributes. Being the "nice kid" isn't just about being polite or agreeable—it's about fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and collaboration. Whether in the boardroom or the classroom, embracing these values can lead to stronger relationships, greater success, and a more fulfilling journey overall. Let's strive to be the kind of professionals who uplift and support others, who lead with integrity and compassion, and who consistently choose to do the right thing—both in our careers and in our interactions with those around us. Together, let's embody the spirit of the "nice kid" and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

Time is the most precious gift we have. (Get it wrong, and unlike other f**-up's, this one is permanent) Yesterday was my daughter Taylor’s 14th birthday. (love you Taylor!) .. this one hit me hard—time really does fly. I remember holding her as a newborn, feeling like I had all the time in the world to watch her grow up. Now, I blinked, and she's become this incredible young woman, full of kindness, empathy, and love. Looking back, I question the choices I've made—the work meetings I prioritized, the moments I missed. Each decision seemed crucial at the time, but now I wonder... Did I balance it right? The truth is, finding a balance between work and life isn’t easy. We all strive to build a meaningful career, to make a difference in the world, but at what cost? The years slip away, and we realize that what truly matters is right in front of us—our family, our loved ones. It’s simple to say "family comes first." I believe in that. But I also believe in making an impact beyond just my personal life. It’s a constant push and pull, trying to give my all to my work while being present for the people I care about most. Taylor loves horseback riding. She cares deeply about the world around her. She reminds me daily of what’s important. I hope that in some way, I’ve passed on to her not just the drive to succeed, but the wisdom to cherish every moment with the ones who matter most. Time is fleeting. Let’s use it wisely. Not just for our careers, but for the people we love. Because at the end of the day, that’s what really counts. --- ♻️ Repost this to share with your network, and follow me James Lawrence for more content about leadership and people.

We celebrate victories, learn from defeats, and rally around our shared purpose. Our break room buzzes with camaraderie as colleagues discuss brackets and cheer for underdogs. 🎉 🏆 **The Thrill of Winning**: When that final buzzer sounds, and the confetti rains down, we're reminded that success isn't a solo endeavor. It's the culmination of countless assists, rebounds, and free throws—each one contributing to our collective victory. 🙌 So, here's to the spirit of March Madness—where teamwork, resilience, and a dash of madness propel us forward. This Monday, 4th March 2024, we woke up to more injuries, deaths, and loved ones holding onto the lifeless bodies of their children, feeling the agonizing helplessness. Three months into 2024, there seems to be nothing worthwhile celebrating. As we approach Ramadan, when our brothers and sisters are being killed by bombs and starvation, it's crucial to reflect on what is truly worth celebrating. In the context of workplace recognitions, celebrations, and awards, it's essential to consider how these events align with our values and humanity. Winning a trophy while choosing not to speak up for those who are suffering raises questions about the true meaning of success. How can we celebrate when we fail at the most basic aspect of being human—compassion and empathy for others?

Roll call for a little #MondayMotivation ✨ Throughout your life, you'll encounter moments where you'll need to stand up for what you believe in. This holds true not only in your personal life but also in your business endeavors. It may not always be easy, and you might face challenges and opposition along the way. However, these moments define your character and shape your legacy. Imagine yourself in your rocking chair, surrounded by your grandchildren many years from now. As you look back on your life, what stories will you share with them? Will you tell them about the times you stayed true to your convictions, even when it was difficult, whether in your personal relationships or in your professional career? Will you recount the moments when you made a positive impact on the world by standing up for justice, equality, or your core values, both at home and in the workplace? Remember that your actions today will become the stories of tomorrow. Be brave, be principled, and be willing to take a stand for what you believe in, whether it's in your business decisions or your personal choices. Your grandchildren will cherish the stories of a person who lived with integrity and purpose, and you'll inspire them to do the same in their own lives. So, when the time comes to share your experiences, be sure you have a good story to tell—one that reflects the strength of your convictions and the positive change you've brought to the world, both in your business and personal life. Stand up, and let your legacy be one of courage, compassion, and unwavering belief in the power of making a difference. 📜✨
