A lot of game developers and VFX artists would fare so much better if they weren't being treated like they work in a sweatshop. I do understand that deadlines on projects exist but I see no reason to stir up stress and anxiety in people that are working hard to put out a product. Poor management and underlying greed is what causing so much turmoil in the game industry now. Instead of laying off artists and other important positions, game developers could spilt up groups of designers, engineers, and programmers into smaller projects. Not every game needs to be a graphical showpiece or a gigantic mountain of work. Think about games back in the day... they were ACTUALLY completely DONE and didn't require anything else. And they were simpler in scope. And the people making the games REALLY CARED about the work. A lot of us have passion for art and burning out artists and designers isn't helping. When we enjoy what we're working on and getting paid well, we produce at a higher quality.

Here are the details: Tidepool Games seeks a Concept Artist to join us for a two month contract. Are you interested in being the spearhead of visual conception for an original science-fiction fantasy IP?   Look and feel for this project are of vital importance. You will help develop and establish the aesthetics of the game including concept art, previsual game screens, and other visual material to help illustrate the game as a realized idea. This material will also be used to promote the game concept to potential investors and publishers. Transparency: We have been awarded funding for this project through the Canada Media Fund and funding is meant to support the conceptualization phase of our project, Nomad Stars. This means we have limited funding for this project right now. A permanent position is not currently available - meaning this is contract only. About this role: We are looking for an experienced Concept Artist who has spent time working in the games industry.  You have a deep passion for science fiction and fantasy and seek to create and craft new worlds in a collaborative environment. You are able to produce to a high standard of visual quality  You are experienced in using a variety of tools Experience with Unreal, ZBrush and Blender are a major plus You are excellent at communicating your vision and discussing reiterations.  You have a solid portfolio that demonstrates your skills. A little about Tidepool Games: Tidepool was founded in early 2024 and is currently a small scrappy and fun startup team.  The core values of the studio revolve around Collaboration, Courage, Clarity and being excellent to each other.  We are a fully remote team and currently work in PST. The position's ideal start time is late August and would end by the end of October. The total budget for this role is $9000 CAD. We value diverse perspectives and experiences. Our current lead Unity engineer is available to pair / train someone as they get started and ramp up on our setup. Below are some screenshots representing various things we've gotten done. Calling all budding Trainee VFX Junior Compositors. Get your reels ready! Two roles up for grabs; https://lnkd.in/ekyYkSzM. Top tips below; Hiring teams at Aardman are busy and compassionate people who love to match individuals with amazing career opportunities. We receive many, many applications, and frequently see basic mistakes that prevent candidates moving to the next stage. Here are some top tips that we hope will help you stand out from the crowd! 1/ Give yourself plenty of time to put together your application. 2/ Read, read, and read again the job description. What is the studio looking for and how well do your skills match the role? 3/ Make sure you tailor your application to the specific studio you are contacting and include any required key skills/level of experience/software knowledge and personal specifications. 4/ Keep all your contact details/reel information and passwords together in one place – your CV! 5/ Always include a covering letter. This gives you the opportunity to support your application and make it personal to you. Include one or two brief paragraphs about yourself and include what you do to support your creativity and passion for animation. 6/ Do your research about the company, people, projects, and policies. Dig deep and find something unique to mention in your covering letter. This shows interest and attention to detail. 7/Many roles require you to have a portfolio and/or reel. Make sure it is well-put together to highlight only your very best work that captures the viewer in the first 10 seconds, and demonstrates your skills, level of experience and personal style. 8/ For CG/VFX specific roles, make sure you include shot breakdowns. Detail your artistry and credit studio production names, “baking” text into a horizontal banner in each shot/sequence. For students who have collaborated on a group graduation film make sure you include your specific shots to showcase your individual skill. 9/ Test your reel link – make sure it works! If it is password protected remember to share the details and include it in all correspondence. 10/Don’t submit your application at the last minute or too near to the closing date as recruiting teams may interview as they go.
