Hey Ladies, Let’s Talk About Retirement Planning! Did you know we face some unique challenges when it comes to saving for retirement? Check this out: Only 22% of us have $100,000 or more saved for retirement, while 30% of men have hit that mark. Plus, 50% of us have no retirement savings at all (Annuity.org) (Fidelity). Why This Matters: 🔹 Living Longer: We typically outlive men, so we need more savings to cover those extra years. 🔹 Pay Gap Struggles: Earning less over a lifetime means we end up with lower retirement savings and Social Security benefits. 🔹 Family First: We’re more likely to take time off to care for family, which can hit our savings hard. As you approach retirement, are you ready for how complex your financial decisions will become? Leading up to retirement, financial decisions are relatively simple. You decide how much you can save, what type of account to save it in, and how to invest within that account. Retirement savings tax decisions are also fairly simple – will you save in an account that provides a tax deduction (like a 401k) or one that does not? Once you actually retire and need to use your savings, things will get much more complex. You’ll now have to make decisions about which type of account you want to withdraw from; which assets within each account to sell or use for your spending; how each withdrawal decision will impact your taxes; and how withdrawal decisions in retirement can impact the other areas of your financial picture. I’ve found that even people who are fairly good with their money still need help and guidance to make the best decisions once they enter retirement.
