A new article by Rebekah Ward for the Houston Chronicle highlights the Pacific Institute's recently launched national assessment findings on urban stormwater runoff. The article spotlights one of the report’s key findings, highlighting how Texas shoulders the most urban stormwater runoff of any state in the United States, while Houston is its most runoff-prone city.    Pacific Institute Senior Researcher Bruk Berhanu, Ph.D., P.E. emphasizes, “We don't want to imply that it's feasible, or legal, or even desirable to capture 100% of the stormwater. But really this finding shows that there is still a huge potential. The current extent of stormwater capture is really limited, only done in a few places.”    The report's findings underscore the importance of reconsidering stormwater not as a nuisance but as a valuable resource.
