"Fact-checking is arguably even more important as generative AI offers the ability to create bogus posts and comments at scale (not to mention deepfakes). It should concern any CX professional who has ever worried about fake reviews or untrue statements about their company, its products or its people. "Asking the community to fact-check Facebook or Instagram is like trying to conscript an army of amateur fact-checkers to do the work of professionals, with no way of monitoring the results of their efforts."

This article is so meta. Reuters writers are reporting on Thomson Reuters the company making a deal for their journalism with Meta. I doubt they got a say or compensation for it. So Meta is using Reuters and Google is using Reddit. They'll both hallucinate constantly, but which one holds human hallucinations...? I'm guess the website that has instructions for pizza with wood glue. Sources matter, Google. Wikipedia is reliable (mostly) while Reddit is rarely reliable. At least Google isn't relying on Twitter. That's always been worse than Reddit. No one is crazy enough to use Twitter data right? Oh wait, Elon Musk is using Twitter data to find the meaning of the universe. Good luck on that. He's more likely to find the meaning of troll culture online. ----- Reuters: "Meta Platforms to use Reuters news content in AI chatbot" (Reuters) (October 25, 2024) "Meta Platforms said on Friday its artificial intelligence chatbot will use Reuters content to answer user questions in real time about news and current events, the latest AI tie-up between a big technology company and a news publisher. Neither Meta nor Reuters-parent Thomson Reuters disclosed the financial details of the partnership. The arrangement would be its first news deal in years. It comes at a time when the Facebook parent has been reducing news content on its services after criticism from regulators and publishers over misinformation and disagreement about revenue-sharing. Meta AI, the company's chatbot, is available across its services including Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. The social media giant did not disclose whether it plans to use Reuters content to train its large-language model. "We can confirm that Reuters has partnered with tech providers to license our trusted, fact-based news content to power their AI platforms. The terms of these deals remain confidential," a spokesperson for Reuters, said in a statement. Reuters will be compensated for access to its journalism under a multi-year deal, according to a report on Friday from Axios, which first published the news. Through its partnership with Reuters, "Meta AI can respond to news-related questions with summaries and links to Reuters content," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement sent by email. Other companies including ChatGPT-maker OpenAI and Jeff Bezos-backed startup Perplexity have struck similar AI partnerships with news organizations. Reuters already has a fact-checking partnership with Meta, which began in 2020." Reuters: https://lnkd.in/gQuEgSpa #ai #genai #aitraining #ailcensing #ouroboros

There’s a lot of talk about the future of AI 🤖 and how to use it for the good of humanity, but we’re already losing important battles in the present. Zuckerberg’s decision to stop moderating his platforms risks turning the digital space into a Wild West 🏜️. Yet, there are existing solutions for managing social content effectively. Harari, for instance, suggests a model similar to newspapers 📰, where “editors” decide what to publish and how. In the digital world, this could translate into ethical and transparent algorithms responsible for the flow of information. And instead... #EthicalAI #SocialMediaGovernance 📰 #TransparencyMatters #FutureOfTech 💡 #ContentModeration #AIForGood #TechEthics #DigitalSociety

While disclosing Gen-AI content is clearly very important to consumers (according to Meta, 82% say they want warning labels on AI-generated posts), not all disclosures are created equal! In some cases, HOW you disclose likely matters more than WHETHER you do so. An MIT Tech Review article points out the likelihood of people mixing up Gen-AI content disclosures with misinformation warnings! This is why co-creating the approach to transparency with citizens is so crucial. Especially in the year of elections when there can be real negative impacts on our democratic futures. https://lnkd.in/eEetT-v2
