The Layers of Your Skin Your skin is more complex than you think - let's peel back the layers 1️⃣ Epidermis: This is the outermost layer, acting as the first line of defense against environmental threats. It's responsible for producing new skin cells, giving us our skin tone, and protecting our body from bacteria and viruses. 2️⃣ Dermis: Located beneath the epidermis, the dermis contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands. It's the layer that gives skin its flexibility and strength, and it also helps regulate body temperature through sweat production. 3️⃣ Hypodermis (Subcutaneous Tissue): The deepest layer, the hypodermis, consists mainly of fat and connective tissue. It insulates the body, absorbs shock, and stores energy, providing essential support to the upper layers. Did you find this interesting?
