Finally got our hands on Copilot licenses for OVG. Early testing has been eye-opening. Some highlights: • Found a relevant reference to a new prospect from a 7-yr old deck • Synthesized research on a client from a PPT deck, Word document, and discovery call recording • Identified positive sentiment from a client who responded 'Boom, well done!' to a presentation • Accurately summarized notes from a Google document that was shared via email but wasn't even downloaded to Microsoft Late last year, we did a mini-experiment with an AI expert to build an app that would query our chats and emails, just to understand more about how LLMs and vector databases worked, and see what the hypothetical lift would be to deploy a Copilot-like app. We were able to build out a prototype, but quickly found that it was prohibitively expensive and difficult to bring all the needed data together, and that was not even including video. The fact that this capability is now already available for $30 per month is incredible. With Copilot, Microsoft has figured out how to: • Centralize a tremendous amount of enterprise data: chats, emails, files, calls (and combine with freely available data) • Filter that data to only what you should have access to, a monumental feat on its own • Make all that data query-able and present results in a meaningful way • If directed, take action on your behalf There is still plenty of opportunity for improvement - rescheduling a call didn't work (although it accepted the prompt) and it couldn't reformat a PowerPoint deck, but those enhancements I'm sure will come with time. The other thing that it couldn't do was parse out our revenue forecast from an Excel file. This is why bringing key structured financial planning data into the Microsoft ecosystem (i.e., Dataverse) is going to be so important to combine massive amounts of qualitative data with reliable quantitative data to support decision-making. I personally can't wait to see what's possible with the Microsoft ecosystem going forward, and very glad that we made the difficult call to switch from Apple and Google earlier this year. #copilot #microsoft #planning
