This is the current challenge for architects. How do you create a functional space that maximizes the number of employees in the footprint, but is also “fun”? The open concept office allows for more workstation space but it doesn’t do well for limiting sound, which is why phone booths have become increasingly prevalent. The point the article misses is that the phone booth should be used to supplement the space. Vitural meetings are better suited in huddle rooms or conference rooms which are naturally more inviting and can help create the “fun” atmosphere with design that reflects a companies culture.
