RESTING the week before Christmas. What I’m doing in my business and with my clients to bring moments of REST. (Two client case studies for you).
As it gets closer to Christmas, a crazy time of year for most, I’ve made a decision that I will keep working in a state of REST in this last week before the holidays.
I’ve realised that it’s a fake deadline we place upon ourselves, and the world will not end if a project gets pushed for another two weeks due to holidays (unless there is a life/death situation).
I’ve decided that I won’t wait for the circumstances to be quiet in order to feel rested.
I’ve realised that this is where my best work comes out. A rested, refreshed mind produces better quality work, better quality relationships, better client conversations.
Taking time to listen to my clients is where the gold is, even if it’s a week before Christmas. I will not rush my projects this week, but I will give them the attention and care they need.
Here is how I’ve brought moments of REST for a couple of my clients recently:
-Seaforth Project: We created 2 x window nooks with seating, located them so they are overlooking the pool, added a planter on the exterior of the windows, and a fireplace in between them.
This is where the morning sun hits and where my clients will be enjoying their cuppa before tackling their day.
-Cremorne Point Project: We opened up a north-west facing wall to create a large three-panel sliding door, created a lounge area next to the door, connecting the garden to the inside.
This space was formerly a dated kitchen with a small window. We moved the kitchen to the centre of the house.
My clients will now be able to rest in that space and enjoy the outdoors from inside, with the afternoon sun hitting their feet.
So even though this is a crazy season for most, let’s slow down and create moments of rest, for our businesses and for our clients.
If you’re interested to hear other ways I’ve designed clients’ homes to create moments of rest, send me a DM and we can have a chat about it...even though Christmas is almost upon us. 😉
