Last week OLM and TUM Venture Labs signed a partnership agreement to foster a robust network which encompasses politicians and leading industry partners, coupled with an access to unparalleled specialized equipment from the Technical University of Munich, and a close partnership with the Bundeswehr University Munich. A partnership that will provide both our entities homing capabilities to an aspiring start-up portfolio across various domains connected to multiple labs specializing in Security & Defense and Aerospace, with connections to labs in the realm of Software/AI (Cybersecurity), Robotics/AI, Mobility, Quantum and Additive Manufacturing activities. Driving Innovation in Optics & Photonics: DIHP Pitch Jena Kicking off the week with innovation! On Monday, I attended the Digital Innovation Hub Photonics (DIHP) Pitch at Fraunhofer IOF in Jena, where ambitious startups and SMEs in optics and photonics came together to showcase their ideas. The goal? To impress a panel of esteemed experts and secure valuable support to propel their projects forward. The stakes were high: a research budget of up to 4 person-months at one of the consortium’s research institutes. This funding empowers the winners to take their innovations in optics, photonics, or biophotonics to the next level. In addition to funding, participants received invaluable feedback from the expert jury. A huge thank you to Sebastian G.M. Händschke for organizing this inspiring event, and to Andreas Tuennermann and Holger Becker for their opening remarks.
