In underground mining, Satellite InSAR is utilized to oversee surface structures, entry points, and nearby areas of concern. The construction of these mines typically involves creating an access point and shafts for extracting ore, as well as ventilation systems and other components. Mine owners and operators are responsible for ensuring the safety of both personnel and machinery, both above and below ground. By setting appropriate parameters, InSAR has the ability to track the surface impact of underground mining operations. Additionally, it can also monitor above-ground assets such as offices, storage areas, crushers, smelters, and access roads to and from the mine. The wide spatial coverage of InSAR enables ongoing remote monitoring of surface and underground operations. Transitioning between open pit and underground mining methods involves complex considerations and careful planning. Key factors include the physical intersection of surface and underground operations, geotechnical and ventilation concerns, and the interaction of dewatering systems. Timing is crucial, as simultaneous operations may require separate management structures, equipment, and technical support, while differences in ore characteristics and processing capacities must be addressed. Additionally, transitioning from underground to open pit is less common and involves decommissioning the underground mine, managing safety risks, and mitigating potential operational disruptions #stantec #MineSAFE #MineARC #safety #mining #ventilation #compressedair https://lnkd.in/ge7FfmHA

The drill and blast method is a widely used technique in mining operations, particularly in hard rock mining. This process involves two key components: drilling holes into the rock formation and subsequently blasting the rock to facilitate its fragmentation. Drill patterns are designed to optimise the blasting process, considering factors like rock type, size, and desired fragmentation. The drilling phase utilises specialised equipment to bore holes into the rock, where explosives are then placed. Upon detonation, the blast breaks the rock into manageable fragments, which can be easily handled and transported for further processing. While advancements in technology have introduced alternative methods, the drill and blast approach remains integral to the extraction of valuable minerals from challenging geological formations. #blasting #mining #miningblast #miningengineering #miningengineer #excavation #blasting #groundworks #tunnelling #drillandblast #blastingengineer #blast #explosives #drilling #quarry #openpitmining #MiningAfrica #drilling # MMS# Mali Mining and Services

5222024 - Great meeting with Josef Bourgeois from HNTB, and Nicole from #CDC_NIOSH, also Steven Ulrich, PMP from #AAM -- setting out a plan for the inaugural meeting of the : ) - CDC/NIOSH enabled Forum on Mine Slope and Subsidence Monitoring - coming in #JUNE_12_2024. Join the NIOSH Mining Program (https://lnkd.in/drWgAX3r) for the first meeting of the Mine Slope and Subsidence Monitoring Partnership. This partnership investigates the use of existing stability/subsidence monitoring technologies in the mining industry and evaluates the potential for early instability detection design. NIOSH aims to create a space where industry, academia, and government collaborators can come together and discuss their successes, gaps, and needs within this area of study to facilitate safety benefits for mining and civil applications nationwide. https://lnkd.in/drWgAX3r For more information: CDC - Mining - Mine Slope and Subsidence Monitoring Partnership - NIOSH #monitoring_instrumentation #geomatics #landslides #geohazards #slope_stability.

EQ Resources Limited Commentary from PAC Partners's Mining Analyst - Lawrence Grech EQR’s infill drilling results – a real boost to near term cashflows and potential future mine operations Significance of drilling results is high, though the ultimate impact is the quantification of the conversion of waste tonnes to ore status. a. Todays, results have broad intersections at 0.35% to over 1% WO3 (Tungsten tri-oxide) and higher. • We are modelling the Mt Carbine open pit to grade 0.19% WO3 over its life of mine, so an upgrade may be warranted upon full investigation. • Grades over 0.5% WO3 are considered hi-grade in an open pit setting. b. Implications for underground operation? A bit early however, • If EQR’s drilling reveals minable underground stopes at 0.5% WO3 – that would be persuasive to develop the underground, even with higher cost per tonne of recovered ore. • The structural model of Mt Carbine is interpreted to foresee increased grade/true width mineralised zones with depth – so finding high grade ore higher up is further encouragement to drill deeper. Full research note is attached, written by Lawrence Grech Senior Research Analyst #Tungsten #criticalminerals #QLDMining #AusIMM #MtCarbine #IndustrialMetals #PACPartners
