At our workplace, we're encouraged to provide one month's notice before taking leave. However, despite our best efforts, getting approval for time off can sometimes be challenging, especially during busy periods like month-end or quarter-end. It's essential for us to find a balance between our work responsibilities and personal well-being. Taking time off allows us to recharge, rejuvenate, and come back to work with renewed energy and focus. It's not just about enjoying life; it's also about being more productive and effective in the long run. So, I believe it's crucial for organizations to consider the importance of granting leave to employees. Fascinating talk about the 4 day work week trial by Sally Haydon, ahm at #DHF24 day 2. What are impacts on the employees who took part in this trial? The defined outcomes were clear and the employees worked out the how. If they wanted help, leaders were able to support as they had fewer meetings as part of the 4 day work week. Regular surveys showed: - increased exercise - getting life admin done on the day off - having more free time on the weekend - better sleep and nutrition - 2/3 reduction in unplanned absences - more confidence in saying no - increase in employees feeling trusted and empowered. I found these results at the halfway point of the trial encouraging and showing the impact on employees in both their personal and professional lives. Anyone reading this doing a 4 day work week? It’s Friday at 10.30am and I’m fortunate enough to have dropped my car off for a service and smashed out a gym session. I’m now sitting at a cafe watching the world go by. This is what a 9 day working fortnight looks like. Fortunate to work for a progressive company kwpx Agency that values employees well-being & provides the ultimate flexibility. Here are just some of the reasons I think every business should embrace a 9 day working fortnight: - Increased productivity. I work hard to get the work done when I’m in the office, knowing a break is around the corner. - More engagement. I feel less inclined to WFH because I’m not run down trying to balance work & home life. - I’m mentally & physically healthier than I’ve ever been and really haven’t changed anything else about my life. I have more time for me, more time to do the things I put off, and more time for my family & friends.
