Do you wonder where some strange American idioms come from? Many come from sports. (In the U.S. quite a few come from baseball.) Examples: “It’s in the ballpark” (It’s close, in the same general range, or approximately the same). “Give me a ballpark figure” (an estimate). Both are used mostly in business discussions. Some idioms mention animals. “The elephant in the room” is a subject that no one wants to talk about, even though it's hard to ignore. To “kill two birds with one stone” means to resolve two problems at the same time (with one action). Empathy in this reel shows us the powerhouse tool that can create a sense of unity and understanding among individuals. It allows us to connect with others on a deeper level and provide support and comfort in times of need. Without empathy, it would be difficult to build strong relationships and foster a sense of community. In this situation, the display of empathy from both the team members and parents helped to create a positive and supportive environment, allowing the young team to overcome their challenges and grow stronger together. It is a reminder of the importance of empathy in building resilience and fostering positive relationships in any group or community.

Understanding the difference between action/outcome and intent. So important in choosing the right response.

We need to develop this mentality in our athletes. Not just the drive to win.

Love this video! Rupture and repair. It’s not enough to simply acknowledge what happened and then move on. In order to repair a rupture. So that we can move forward together (even as competitors), we MUST: Own our part Accept the consequences Reconcile where appropriate Without those three middle steps, one or both parties, will be stuck. In this example, the pitcher is clearly owning the pitch and accepting the consequences of a player on first. THEN the batter realizes that the rupture has not yet been repaired, so the player approaches the pitcher and offers to reconcile so both can move forward… together - in healthy competition with each other.
