The structure of the building was optimal, we just needed to make subtle enhancements to reflect and appreciate its original design." Fashioned from the amalgamation of two historic buildings, a gin distillery, and a bank, in the heart of Clerkenwell, this architectural marvel has been reimagined by architects Buckley Gray Yeoman. The remaining floors, spanning from the 1st to the 3rd, offer versatile workspaces ranging from 12,411 – 45,012 Ft². Each unit boasts lofty ceilings of 3+ metres and abundant natural light, creating an environment conducive to productivity and well-being. Crowning this transformation is an expansive communal rooftop space, reminiscent of a penthouse, revealed in its entirety at the conclusion of the film – it’s worth the wait. Highlights: • The first floor features a private gallery space, providing a unique and secluded area for artistic endeavours. • The second floor showcases the timeless charm of beautiful cross laminated timber (CLT) wooden beams adding character to the workspace. • The 12,411 Ft² third floor is meticulously fully fitted by Whitepaper ensuring a sophisticated and functional environment for occupants ready to pull up a pew immediately. • The pinnacle of the structure, the top floor, serves as the proverbial icing on the cake. Here, a communal tenant lounge and rooftop space offer a shared oasis for relaxation and collaboration. Planning Update: Our Ascot head office is delighted to announce the successful acquisition of planning consent for two unique detached Arts and Crafts-style 4-bedroom homes with separate double garages in West Horsley, Surrey. This milestone follows a challenging planning journey, given the site's proximity to the Green Belt. Our team's meticulous approach and close collaboration with the council and our client Neil Everest (Silver Key Developments) was instrumental in achieving this high-quality development within three months of submission. Each home is designed with a distinct, elegant front elevation, showcasing individual architectural characteristics and varying finishing materials. Plot 1 features a striking projected gable as its centrepiece, clad in dark grey timber and red brick. A catslide roof elegantly merges into a subtle entrance porch. A prominent bay window on the ground floor enhances the gable's visual impact. Decorative elements like a chimney, timber gable detail, and brick corner accents add to its charm. Plot 2 is a splendid representation of Arts and Crafts architecture, distinguished by its gables and a brick entrance porch. The more prominent left gable features red tile hanging and brickwork, highlighted by a bay window. The right gable, though more subdued, maintains the harmonious aesthetic. The entrance porch, with its intricate stepped brick arch, adds elegance. The house's character is further enriched by a decorative chimney, brick headers, stone sills, and dark grey timber casement windows. The development marries style with sustainability, incorporating biodiversity, energy efficiency, water management, and sustainable construction. Features include electric vehicle charging points and solar PV panel-ready roofs. Our team is thrilled for our client and eagerly anticipates seeing this project through to completion. #architects #architecture #property #planning #planningpermission #construction

Our office space sits in a once abandoned 1900s building that has been completely rehabilitated. For this historic preservation, the designers intentionally highlighted the existing architecture and utilized existing materials wherever possible. Many of the original materials were carefully culled, cleaned, and remain in the space today to represent the building’s historic character! Almost all the brick in the space is original brick with beautiful patina and character. The designers chose to lean into the inspiration and choose new materials that were natural or architectural. It was important to us to keep the original design language while modernizing the space into a sleek office space. The building is sandwiched between two other buildings on its block. The historical society denied requests to cut new windows into the façade. This became a challenge in maximizing natural light into the space while having light only entering from one wall. The solution was to create glass partitions for light filtering. This gives a sleek finish to the space while still creating simultaneous privacy and openness into the linear space. Exposed pipes and structure add to the masculine and industrial language the building already possessed! New Modernism is much more than a trend - it's a journey into the future of architecture 🔮 The contemporary urban landscape is gaining a new focus, referencing classic elements of modernism, but introducing innovations that change the way we perceive and use space. ⭐️ Modernism, also known as minimalism in architecture, is making a surprising comeback. Buildings in this style are based on the principles of simplicity, purity of form and minimalist elegance. However, modernism today is moving beyond the simplicity of form, engaging modern technologies that are transforming the trend into something entirely new. One of the key differences that defines the new modernism is the use of large glazing. Unlike classical interpretations, where buildings were often enclosed and massive, contemporary modernist structures seem to connect space to the environment by enhancing the role of glass. ✅ Large glazings are becoming a hallmark of new buildings, creating an unusual sense of openness, bringing natural light into interiors and providing panoramic views.
