ICYMI: the Community Affairs Senate Committee released its report on poverty in Australia. We welcome the recognition of the prevalence and harm caused by child poverty (Chapter 4) and urge Government to be ambitious in setting a national definition of poverty and legislated targets. After all, what gets measured, gets done. Amanda Rishworth Jim Chalmers Poverty deprives children of the material basics and impacts on wellbeing, inclusion and participation as an an active agent in their own lives. These are fundamental rights. When these rights are not met, the harm is lifelong.
