🎬 Reflecting on a Decade at I/O 🚀
Ten years ago, we started I/O with nothing more than a bit of camera gear and two workstations. What started with two passionate creatives rolling up — okay, ripping off — their sleeves, has blossomed into a studio that collaborates with some of the world's most renowned brands.
From directing intimate crews to managing productions on a global scale (30+ countries), the journey has taught me the art of storytelling through every lens and location imaginable. Every project, whether delivered early or just under the wire, has been a lesson in resilience and creativity. Along the way, I've witnessed the incredible ways in which stories connect people across the globe, highlighting our shared human experiences and bridging diverse cultures.
It's clear that today, technology is revolutionizing the ways we connect, communicate and create faster than ever. Which is why I think, now more than ever, it's crucial to engage through authentic stories and genuine human connections. Dropping this —Oldie but a goodie — HR recruiting video we made for Tweed (Canopy Growth) back in 2019. Created for a burgeoning company with dozens of locations across North America, our goal was to showcase the shared emotions and feelings throughout the organization, fostering a sense of connection. For me, this is one of those that stands out as a testament to the enduring power of authentic storytelling and how it connects us.
If you are curious to learn more about our history, and how we came to be, you only need to click on this story.
It started and continues to this day, with our all-inspiring mother; the visionary and driver who started the whole legacy.
No "startup" journey starts in a flash and all expenses paid business with nice suits and a full tank of gas to sell your dream.
Our story started quite the opposite. Family van used to pick up workers, daily monitoring of that famous empty tank light, early mornings in gumboots dressed like an Eskimo preparing for the four seasons in one day, and a long list of learnings, and lots of first time experiences.
One of the few moments in my life, where I had no role title. I was just "that person" playing the role needed at that time: picker, packer, driver, supervisor, holiday cover, payroll, admin, business developer..... the list goes on.
Have we reached our goals as a family?
Nope. The correct question you want to ask is, how high do we want to go?
Mum has shown us and instilled hard “grit” work.
"Be a good person and always do the right thing," teaching us, "if no one believes in you, show them!"

Building culture is “making it happen” for someone else.
We’ve got some amazing things on the horizon at FitLab in the Studio Division.
With a growing team, each person added is one deviation further from the core vision unless they are actively brought into the fold.
Building something great involves tremendous anticipation.
And in that, it should be met with payoffs that solidify your decision to join the team like waiting for Christmas to see that bike you asked for under the tree-and when you do… you KNOW Santa is real.
Every time you “make it happen” for someone, you earn another vote to the future that was planned.
Another incredible and valued piece of an integrated culture.
Whether it is for a client or someone on your team, if you have read this far, for the remainder of the week I implore you to:
• ”Make it happen” for someone if you can
• Help someone move toward that moment if you can’t
• Recognize and celebrate that moment with someone if it’s already in motion
Let’s win the rest of the week 🙌🏻
We did it!! I am so very proud of us!!
🎉 How many times have you thought, 'Someone should do something about that,' only to move on with your day? That happens to me all the time and I may get as far as starting the conversation but with my busy schedule, too often I drop the ball. But this time, I couldn't let it slide. Two years back, in a chat with Steffi Freedman (@freedmanteamrealtors), we discussed the need for real estate agents to thrive despite life's interruptions. Often, it would’ve been too easy to stop the conversation, drop the ball and let it go but in the true spirit of “she persisted“ we refused to let it go! the program has been developed, and, as of yesterday, our program is live! 🚀 our hope is that this program makes it’s way across all markets!
I am sharing the words from Steffi's post:
"🙌🏼🙌🏼🖤 Official rollout of the TAG Program today! T.A.G. stands for “Trusted Agent Group”. @jenna_leggette_realtor and I co-founded this new initiative to help fellow agents navigate life's ups and downs - from expected events like "Parental Leave" and "Aging Parents" to unexpected challenges like illness, accidents, or the loss of a loved one - all while maintaining and sustaining their business. As agents, we often lack a safety net during these times, but that ends now. We can do better, and we will. Huge thanks to our cheerleaders at Compass (tagged the ones I could find on IG and shoutout to Jeff Bedard, Aliyah Powell, and Marc Pina!) Special gratitude to Nikki Gerling and Scott Kenkelen who helped shape our ideas into the cohesive TAG Program we're launching today. Startin

Candidates often ask me to describe the culture at Stitch. I start with “Fun and engaged”. I go on to describe the patterns I see that indicate we have a culture that people want to participate in.
One surprising indicator: office attendance! Stitch has been and always will be a remote-first company 🏡 We have Stitchers working from their homes across the US and Canada. Our Slack org is extremely active (and entertaining).
We have a physical office in Indy, where several of our Stitchers happen to live. We never require people to come into it. Still, several local Stitchers choose to regularly make the drive in on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
While our candidates may not live in close proximity to our office, they get excited about joining a company with a culture rich enough that people actively want to be around their coworkers when given the choice.
Whether they live in Indy or a few thousand miles away, our Stitchers’ participation in our culture happens organically and authentically 🩵

Two weeks in at Fynd, and I couldn't be more stoked to be right back where I belong! 🧡
These past couple of weeks have been an epic whirlwind - packed with BIG days, reconnecting with some of my favourite faces, and diving headfirst back into the buzzing Brissy tech + digital community. We’re so lucky to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in Brisbane, and the support from our network is nothing short of heartwarming.
There's also lots to share with you all on the digital front soon #watchthisspace.🔥🙊
This year has thrown me some unexpected curveballs, and for a moment, I thought I was closing the chapter on my time in the People + Talent world. But you know what? It wasn’t recruitment that I stopped loving - it was all about landing back in the right place to love it again.
There’s truly something magical about being surrounded by people you deeply respect - where values align, and the motivation to leap out of bed each morning feels effortless. I think we can all relate to that struggle when it’s not so easy at times, right?
“Culture” might be a buzzword we hear all the time, but few really grasp its true depth. I bang on about the importance of culture almost every day in my job, but this year has really shown me firsthand just how vital it is to get it right. It all starts with your people, and it has to run deeper than the surface.
So, I’m curious - what does a thriving culture look like to you, and how do you nurture it within your teams? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 💭✨
And, If you're struggling to nail the people + culture piece in your own business, come say hi to us here at Fynd, we'd love to help! 🙋🏼♀️

Fun was accidental in our youth, and found in everything. What changed?!
I think most stopped having the space for fun. No longer given focus. I’ve found #FUN to be an intentional thing.
“Funlab must be a pretty fun place” is something I hear often, and sure it is, but…
The assumption can follow that Funlab is a chill place, fit for laid back laughs at work. I can tell you that the reality is absolutely otherwise.
We work hard, play hard. Fun is not a result of absent-effort. In fact, it’s the high care factor and satisfaction in achievement, matched with people who intrinsically find fun, even in the most fun-clear places, and create it in their hustle.
It’s the people that make the place…not the fun activities across our venues or Support Office.
Clearly something of a passion for me, but this being our Core Value or the Period (‘FUN is Infectious…Spread it!’) it called for spreading ;)
Curious of your thoughts on fun in the workplace!

At Yellow Tail Tech, a sense of community that developed organically from the beginning. This has a significant impact on our business and how we operate. The job market is challenging right now—finding a place to work is hard enough, but finding a company you love? Even harder.
As a leader, I want my employees to fall into the latter category, so I put as much energy into them as they do into the expertise in their roles.
What’s the easiest way to create a sense of community in your business? Listen to your employees.
You hired them to do a job—now, trust them to do it.
