Every year at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), Sony continues to raise the bar, and this year was no exception! With so many amazing products on display, it's difficult to choose a favorite, but I do love love love the Sony SRG-A12 / A40 PTZ auto-tracking / auto-framing cameras. These cameras are by far the best auto-tracking / auto-framing PTZ cameras on the market! The tracking speed, the accuracy, the framing / capture options, you name it, the Sony SRG-A12 / A40 PTZ is the world leader! Nikon, a leading #camera manufacturer, has announced its purchase of RED Digital Cinema, a #company that produces high-end digital cinema cameras such as the RED One 4K and V-Raptor X. Nikon hopes to enter this niche #market by using RED’s skills in cinema camera #technology , such as distinctive #image compression and color science. RED’s cameras have been used in many popular movies and TV shows, especially from Marvel Entertainment Studios. Jarred Land, the president of RED, praised the deal, saying that both companies share a common vision to transform the #digital cinema camera industry. This deal comes after RED’s legal dispute with Nikon over #video compression patents, which was settled last year. "One of the challenges with multi-camera virtual production is ensuring each camera sees its corresponding perspective in the LED volume. We were testing a system that changed the background in the LED volume at exactly the same time as the camera cut. This is an alternative to other systems that interleave the backgrounds for all the cameras in the LED volume simultaneously, with each camera’s shutter speed adjusted so it only sees its intended background. Such systems are elegant, but limited to four cameras, and the people on set see all the backgrounds blended together, which can be distracting. Sony’s new workflow offers seamless real-time switching between multiple cameras regardless of the number of cameras."
