Why can’t the best England team in years win a final? On paper, this is indeed the most exciting England team in a generation. We were even made favourite for the Euros by the bookies, but unfortunately Southgate is tactically inept ….That is the simple truth. Once again, his very predictable starting 11 tactical choices failed him. We replicated the improved semi-final play, we pressed, but Jude Bellingham looked isolated for extended periods. An unfit Harry Kane at centre-forward was slow and ineffectual AGAIN. The Spain manager noted all of this, he also recognised we had another player who was not match-fit at left back with Luke Shaw. We ‘luckily’ won our way to the final because of the ‘reluctant’ use of substitutes by the manager which provided the necessary balance and attacking edge. Yet once again, ONLY in the final 20 minutes, when Ollie Watkins and Cole palmer came on did England find a dangerous attacking formation. They should have started the game, anyone that understands football knew this, that is everyone apart from Southgate … unlike his Spain counterpart. Instead, England have had to rely on fleeting moments of inspiration from its superstars, but Spain had a system and a highly competent manager to make effective use of such. So another lost final. But I truly believe the best for England is yet to come 🙏🏼, unfortunately that will never happen with Southgate as manager. …..Adiós Gareth. #success #winners #tactics #inspiration #innovation #management

31 Seasons of the Premier League (plus the one we are in now so 32). Over the history of the premier league there has only been 7 teams to win, massively dominated by Manchester United up until 2012 where we then start to see Manchester City attempt to take centre stage, who’ll win next? For those that want to know the scores on the doors since the season kicked off in 1992, so far: Team Wins Manchester United 13 Manchester City 6 Arsenal 5 Chelsea 3 Liverpool 2 Leeds 1 Blackburn 1 I’m sure plenty of you can wade in and let me know why since 2012 have Man U only been in the top 3 twice since 2012? You typically support a team for life, the good and the bad, however you have a choice when it comes to your finances, continue with your old ways or old financial adviser, holding onto history, hoping things to take a turn and return to winning ways again or you act now. On Saturday 16th December, the Premier League game between Bournemouth and Luton Town was abandoned after Hatters captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch. Since then they have beaten Newcastle United. And today secured all three pints in a comeback win at Sheffield United. And the presence of their missing captain is there for all to see. In their goal celebrations. Togetherness. Spirit. This is a team with a cause. And in sport, and in life a cause can be a very powerful thing indeed. With a cause you can move mountains. With a cause you can go beyond what you might have been personally able to achieve. A Cause = Power. A cause is when you are serving something greater than yourself. Like doing it for someone else. Who is not there. But you are there on their behalf. And when you have a cause you do not want to let that person down. So...you go the extra mile. Run longer. Harder. Faster. You have Cause Energy. The team have Cause Energy. You feed off each other. And now, suddenly, everything feels possible. A cause creates emotional fuel. And emotional fuel, when channelled correctly, is a very potent force indeed. Luton Town will want to see their captain back in action as soon as possible. But right now, they have one of the most powerful things in sport at their disposal. For a team with a cause is a team that feels unstoppable!

Humble Pie Never Tasted So Sweet - A Lesson in Leadership and Unity 🥧🎉 Let’s take a moment to celebrate Gareth Southgate and the incredible journey of the England football team. Beating the Netherlands to secure a spot in the European Championship final against Spain is no small feat, and it marks England’s first final outside of its home turf. Southgate, often the target of critics, has proven his mettle as the most successful England manager in history. ⚽🏆 Sticking to the Plan and Leading with Unity One thing that stands out to me in this journey is how Southgate has managed to keep the players focused on the mission. Despite the noise from critics and doubters, the team has shown remarkable unity. Even those players who haven’t seen much game time have remained supportive and committed. Southgate isn’t just managing a squad; he’s managing a backroom staff and an entire nation’s expectations. 🇬🇧🙌 Success isn’t just about tactics or talent. It’s about sticking to a plan, maintaining focus, and fostering a sense of togetherness. Southgate has shown us that authentic leadership means guiding your team through adversity, not getting sidetracked by outside noise, and staying committed to the mission. 🚀💪 England has undoubtedly ridden their luck at times, but this journey also highlights the power of gratitude, humility, and manifesting what you truly believe in. Amazing things can happen when you combine hard work with a positive mindset. 🌟🙏 So, here’s to Gareth Southgate, the players, and everyone on this journey. It’s a powerful reminder that unity and commitment to the mission can overcome any obstacle in any organisation. And to all the doubters, it looks like it’s time to enjoy some humble pie! 🥧😋 I’ve heard a little rumour that Southgate might be the next Man United manager. Cue the critics! 🔥👀 Remember, whether on the pitch or in the office, stick to the plan, support each other, and don’t let the critics distract you. Success will follow. 💼👏 Stay focused, stay united, and celebrate this incredible achievement together! 🎉🔥 1 more to go!!! 🏴 🇪🇸 #Comeonengland #Resilience #Gratitude #Focus #Humility #Euros2024

Congratulations to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. Four consecutive Premierships. Six out of the last seven Premierships. ✅ Pep is definitely the best coach in the league. ✅ Kevin De Bruyne is the best playmaker. ✅ Erling Haaland the record breaking striker, despite barely touching the ball. ✅ Phil Foden the best English prospect since [fill in your own favourite here] My own team, Manchester United, continue their dismal slump since Sir Alex retired. It’s hard to see us putting up much of a fight in the FA Cup next week as City aim for an unprecedented consecutive double. But…how do we feel about the fact that City are accused of 115 breaches of the the Premier League’s financial rules? Nottingham Forest were docked four points for a single breach of the same rules. Everton were docked six points for two breaches. Yet City’s lawyers continue to drag the process out… I think the Premier League is in a real dilemma now. The PL brand is worth billions and attracts worldwide audiences. Any meaningful sanction of City will harm the credibility of the brand, so don’t hold your breath for any penalties any time soon. Sour grapes? Not really. Manchester United has been badly led and managed for the past decade, squandering huge transfer fees and operating a revolving door policy for coaches. However, if I was a Liverpool or Arsenal fan I’d be furious. Let alone an Everton or Nottingham Forest fan… Either the financial rules are relevant and applicable to everyone. Or not. But the current system is not working. #football #financialfairplay #hunterisms

Reimagine success & productivity with empathetic leaders, motivated employees & people-first businesses | Keynote Speaker - Executive Coach - Trainer & Facilitator
England has made it to the Euro finals. Even a non-football fan like me is taking notice. ⚽️ I can count on my fingers the number of football games I’ve ever watched. Yet, I vividly remember Gareth Southgate missing that crucial penalty in the Euro 1996 semi-final against Germany. (For those of you who, like me, are not big followers of the sport: England and Germany had each scored 5 out of 5 penalties, and the hopes of a nation rested on sudden death. Southgate took a long run-up, missed… and became an easy scapegoat.) What an incredible story of resilience to see Gareth Southgate leading a successful team as manager. More than that, it’s a tale of learning from failure. As manager, he has focused on the team's approach to penalties. He has partnered with psychologists, worked on players’ breathing techniques, and taught them to ignore the goalkeeper and focus instead on their well-practised routine. Every penalty taker is met by a buddy as they walk back to the halfway line. Most importantly, Southgate has fostered an environment of psychological safety, ensuring that players are well-prepared and supported, even if they miss. (Which is sadly all the more crucial in the face of recent racist abuse.) Southgate has taken the lowest moment of his career and used it to his advantage. An inspirational journey of redemption, from the heartbreak of 1996 to the strategic, empathetic leadership of today. A powerful reminder that resilience, proper preparation, and a supportive environment are key to achieving success. Wishing the best of luck to Gareth Southgate and the England team in the final! ***** 👋🏻 I’m Anna - a speaker, coach, and facilitator specialising in modern workplace productivity. Our president, Marc Guerrero, met yesterday with one of the most experienced football #executives at the top of European football, the new appointed Manchester United's CEO, Omar Berrada. There is an undeniable fascination with professional #football clubs the world over. But whilst the star players, head coaches and owners typically dominate the headlines, one of the most important figures in any club is undoubtedly its #CEO. What made CEOs successful in the past is no longer enough. The #context in which they operate has become fundamentally more #complex and traditional approaches to leadership are now insufficient. In the past, sporting success led to business success. That relationship is being reversed. In this #changing and increasingly stressful #environment, CEOs must bring to bear a unique blend of skills, experiences, and perspectives, as well as a knowledge of how to leverage the support of the board of directors, to help them run their football club.
It was a pleasure to meet Manchester United’s appointed new CEO, Omar Berrada (one of the most experienced football executives at the top of European football) at the sidelines of EU Business School commencement ceremony #euclass24. Berrada arrives to the United after being chief football operations officer (COO) at Manchester City Football Club. For him implementing the correct structure at the club is key to the team's success. He also warns overpaying clubs, players and agents in the transfer market can lead to teams finding themselves on a "slippery slope". #executive #football #europe #reds #manchester #uk #team #club #leadingthechange

Gareth Southgate Resigns as England Manager In the wake of England's heart-wrenching 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, Gareth Southgate has stepped down as the national team's manager. Southgate, who served as manager for eight years, cited the need for "a new chapter" in his illustrious career. His tenure has seen England achieve remarkable highs, including a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and a Euro 2020 final. Despite the recent loss, Southgate's leadership brought renewed hope and respectability to English football. Reflecting on his time as manager, Southgate described playing for and managing England as "the honour of my life." His commitment and dedication have been evident throughout his tenure, having navigated the team through four major tournaments. His departure marks the end of an era, but it also heralds the beginning of a new phase for England. FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham has already stated that the process of appointing a new manager is underway, with an interim coach likely to take charge during the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. As Southgate steps aside, the football community is left to ponder his legacy. He undoubtedly laid a strong foundation for future success and fostered an environment where players could thrive. His departure signals an opportunity for fresh leadership to build on these foundations and take the England team to new heights. While speculation about his successor is rife, one thing is certain: Southgate's influence will be deeply missed. #GarethSouthgate #EnglandManager #Euro2024

Fascinating study in leadership. Ange Postecoglou is a gifted communicator and totally committed to his principles. Whether you are managing a business team or a sporting team, this is how you create a culture for success.
Chief Creative Officer | Storyteller | Author | Curious Optimist | Wordsmith | Multicultural Marketeer | The Meaning of Sport |
“When success comes to this football club, and it will come, it will be glorious.” Love Ange Postecoglou's positive approach to his second year at Tottenham, vowing to stay the course to play successful, stylish, fan-friendly football. The doubters and doom merchants are already trying to undermine his leadership but if you don't believe in the club's future and yourself, how will anybody else buy in? Some clubs have cancerous cynicism in their DNA and Ange is doing his best to change the culture at Tottenham. Mistakes will be made but an impatient fan base death riding his every move will only continue the rot. Spurs are a work in progress and only the football gods know if Ange's positive mentality will bear fruit but without strong self belief there is no chance. And hope is a wonderful thing! I'm with you Ange (except for the North London derby)! #Patience #Belief Credit: Tottenham Fan Forum
