Arts Education: A Journey Beyond Validation In a recent surge of inspiration, Sir Ian McKellen has championed the cause of engaging more deeply with the arts. His advocacy for singing, acting, dancing, and writing is not just a call to action but a gentle reminder of the arts' intrinsic value in nurturing the human spirit. The arts are not merely subjects to be graded or critiqued; they are gateways to self-discovery and personal growth. While the pursuit of excellence through arts education is commendable, an overemphasis on external validation through exams can overshadow the true essence of artistic endeavors. The joy found in the creative process, the insights gained from expressing oneself, and the personal satisfaction of artistic exploration are the real treasures that enrich our lives. As we reflect on Sir Ian's words, let us shift our focus from seeking approval to fostering a genuine connection with our creative cores. Let us encourage arts education that prioritizes individual expression over standardized assessment, ensuring that the journey through the arts remains a personal and enriching experience for all. Join the conversation and share how the arts have impacted your life beyond the accolades. https://lnkd.in/gXGGQXTM

Searching for a way to grab the attention. That seems to be the never-ending quest. And, needless to say, the key to a powerful, memorable means of storytelling. But how is it made practical? One way is by making the story relevant. Not everyone gets to attend the symphony. Or the theater. But we all understand passion, drive, the push to excel. And we all know the power of the arts to uplift and sooth and transport us away. These days, that sense of inspiration and escape seems much-needed, perhaps even vital. That’s how the story comes together…by being relevant, connecting with our day-to-day hopes and aspirations. Story. Made relevant. Made practical. And made unforgettable. That’s how we grab the attention.

To complement my exertions in addressing socio-political and socio-economic issues through artistic writing and preceding it, diligent inquiry, I engaged an erudite Professor at the prestigious University of Benin, Benin-city who is also the Editor of the National Theatre Monograph Series (NATMOS) of the National Arts Theatre, Prof. Christopher Ugolo; we discussed the imperativeness of Dance practice and profession to the society and the globe in extension. This particular exceptional piece is published by Applied Worldwide — a sociological knowledge prioritized content mill based in America. The link to read it is in the comment session.

Picture a college professor using complex sentences and obscure words to convey a point; "In the pursuit of achieving percussive excellence upon the grand stages of Broadway, an aspirant must cultivate not only a profound technical proficiency across a diverse array of rhythmic patterns but also an intuitive grasp of the symbiotic relationship between percussive elements and the theatrical narrative, thereby facilitating an auditory experience that both complements and enhances the visual spectacle and resonates with the audience on a visceral level." While they might sound intelligent, not everyone will be able to comprehend what they're trying to convey. https://lnkd.in/ds72f3eW
