It involves adhering to strict hygiene practices, regulatory standards, and continuous education to maintain the highest quality and safety of the products we create. Food safety is not just a responsibility but a fundamental aspect of my profession, reflecting our dedication to public health and trust in our industry.

Anybody else think we need more system audits and less checklisting? I have a hard time reconciling the volume of NCs in the regulator's report at Boars Head with the absence of the word Listeria from the entire document. We all wonder how that could happen. We weren't there. We don't know what happened. But undeniably one possibility is that inspectors were checking boxes; this is a common side effect of a task based approach to audits. Missing the forest for the trees. In this clip, Bryan Armentrout and I discuss the difference between a checklist audit and a system audit.
This conversation with Alex Hanley seems particularly on point given the food safety failures at BoarsHead. Do you want a quality system that just satisfies an audit checklist or an active and implemented food safety system?
