Newark NJ, Work has begun on this 6 story self-storage building. There will be 1,332 storage units in a 96,855 SF facility. The exterior of the building will be brick and Kingspan metal panels, with store front windows on two corners of the building. In the photo you are seeing the vapor barrier mitigation system that we installed prior to pouring the first-floor slab. This system consisted of a layer of 3” clean stone, a 3” corrugated pipe in an ore design pattern, and stubbed up so the pipe can continue through the roof for venting. Monitoring wells were installed. We also installed a 60 mill poly barrier, sealed all seams and edges together, and sealed to the footer to contain any gases from coming up through the floor. This system will allow the gases to be vented up to the roof. #selfstorage #brownfieldsconstruction

FyreSTRAP is used to fire rate services that run through the head tracks of plasterboard or in control joints above concrete and block walls. 🔥 It is especially useful to treat the head of the wall penetrations that are in tight, narrow spaces, as FyreSTRAP can bend to fit around multiple services. In this test we installed three services, a 5mm PVC conduit, a TPS 2.5 mm2 2C+E cable and a 16‐mm2 3C+E power cable through a 2x16mm 2hr plasterboard wall, achieving an FRL of -/120/120. As the services melt, the FyrePEX HP Intumescent Sealant fills the spaces within the FyreSTRAP maintaining the integrity & insulation rating of the fire barrier. The system is cost-effective, allows mixed services to pass through one opening and is tested to AS1530.4-2014. The FyreSTRAP is also simple to remove, adding in the flexibility to add additional services in the future if required. ALERT 🚨 OOPS THEY DID IT AGAIN… GOOD FROM A FAR..FAR FROM GOOD Concrete and Colorbond showcasing the damage caused so quickly in this video This Amazing new home that MyCladders Cladded with @Colorbond Steel Dover Interlock panel is destroyed before the owners even moved in! You ask how! Well when the excavation was done around the house, they pushed soil up against the cladding and left it there for a long time (estimated 2 months). Then when the concrete pathway was laid, the concrete was poured hard up under the Colorbond toe mould. This is a $2m build! The rectification of this wall will be between $7-9k. Lessons to learn… Colorbond is a finished product that needs to be kept clear of concrete and soils. If you need to run the Colorbond flashing onto the concrete, this requires a gasket to separate the two. If your going to use Colorbond steel for your wall cladding…Make sure your builder knows what they are doing first! #Colorbondsteel #buildingfail #doitagain

#062 〰️What is a #Cladding & Why its a considered a source of fire spread in structures #General: A Cladding in #Building Structure refers to layer or skin of a building, mainly #High Rise Building for the intent to increase #thermal efficiency or aesthetics of building. The Cladding is a #non loaded bearing which means its not integrated into #building structure. #Types of Cladding Materials: There are mainly #2 types of cladding materials used in buildings : a.Thermal Insulation b. Facade Panel a.Thermal insulation : Thermal insulation is made of #foam such as #PIR Foam or #phenolic foam b.Facade Panel are usually made of #composite materials ( ACM & HPL) where ACM : Aluminium Cladding Material HPL : High Pressure Laminate #Source of Fire : -Cladding is considered one of the major sources of fire in building & this back to : a.Cladding is made of #combustable material & whatever these cladding catches #fire then fire will spread quickly -Second, cladding systems require an open cavity to allow the insulation to ‘breathe’ behind the weather resistant cladding panels & this is considered a good enviroment for fire spread inside a building #Measures Required : -Claddings now are considered a major part in new buildings & usage of #non combustable materials such as #mineral based material are highly reccomanded to avoid this huge source of hazard -Claddings shall be approved & tested before installation by Consultant / CDC #Safety #Cladding #FLS
