On this #MindfulMonday, let's take the opportunity to have a mindful #MemorialDay 💐 Our first Memorial Day (previously known as Decoration Day) was observed back in 1868. This was to commemorate those who lost their lives in the American Civil War, and allow a day for collective grief. As we continue to observe this day, we mourn and memorialize all of our lost soldiers over the years. Memorial Day should not be a day of mindless observance, rather a mindful day to acknowledge the meaning and importance. This could mean mourning those you have personally lost, a collective mourning for all the lives lost, or some moments to practice gratitude. How will you move through this day mindfully? #MentalHealthMatters

The following findings suggest that there is something wrong with this: 1 - More than 1.3 million signatures have been collected on two petitions calling for his execution to be halted. Source:https://lnkd.in/gyDfsmSW 2- Earlier, The execution was previously postponed 4 hours before the execution. (more than 200,000 signatures had been collected for the appeal). DNA evidence was evaluated. The result was that the DNA on the knife was someone else's. If you are not sure, why did you give the death sentence? If you were sure, why did you stop the execution? This raises the suspicion that the trial was not fair and that the court was not sure of its own decision. (Williams has twice avoided execution, first by the state Supreme Court in 2015 and again in 2017 when Governor Eric Greitens (R) granted Williams a reprieve.) 3-"Prosecutors raise concerns about lack of evidence as family of victim supports saving Williams from the death penalty"Source:https://lnkd.in/gVkQrHux 4- physical evidence does not match the person to be executed. 5- Found guilty solely on the testimony of witnesses. And the conflicting testimonies of these people. Dear brothers and sisters in America I pray for you too because every single day I realize how you, after all this time are still not free. American freedom and Justice is not for people of colour. You are still third class citizens. They are still killing your sons and daughters. I pray for you, too. South Africa abolished apartheid long after you were given "equal rights", and yet I still see how unjust your system is. I am not saying our system is perfect, far from it. I am saying, that it is heartbreaking to see, that the very people who helped us attain our freedom, are still in chains. I cry for you! I pray for you. This morning I waited for the news of Marcellus Williams, and I cried. I cried as if it was my own brother I lost. They executed him despite evidence to the contrary. Innalilahiwainaillahiragioon Rest in Peace Brother. Ps. Please do not let your sons and daughters enlist in the US army, it is exactly as the word says... Arm-Arm of carrying out oppression Arm-Arm of carrying the genocide of killing black and brown people. Arm of ethnic cleansing. Arm of imperialism. Arm of white racist colonialism. Arm of satan. It is not the place of our black and brown sons and daughter. Love your South African sister.
