Reclaimed Bath Stone. The team working on our #farmhouse #restoration project near Bath have been gathering the reclaimed Bath stone from the dilapidated outbuildings ready for the new #construction starting in the Spring 2025. The stone will need Riddling (a technique also used in champagne production, but in this case with a much heavier approach required using a specialist digger bucket to clean the stone from the old lime mortar), then cut to the correct depth (using a wet stone cutter, the water keeping the stone cutting blade cool whilst also suppressing the dust created during the cutting process), then organised in to stock piles depending of the height of the face of the stone before finally being reinstated to form the new walling on lime mortar beds. #property #building #homerenovation #craftconstruction

Borers are only present in the larva stage, where termites come and go when they get hungry. You can usually spot borer damage via a honey Combe like pattern of small clusters of holes. Borers typically like the soft decorative wood like skirtings, mouldings and floor boards. Making big structural damage to hardwood less likely although it can happen.
