Yesterday, I had a great chat with a teammate about the constant need to re-plan our change projects. It seems like we're always re-planning the re-plan, and it's draining. The root of the problem? Unrealistic timelines. We all know projects face challenges and setbacks, yet we rarely factor in time for these. Instead, we create these overly optimistic plans and then act surprised when things go off course. This brings to mind Scotty from Star Trek. He'd always tell Captain Kirk it would take a month to get something done and then finish in two weeks. Scotty knew how to manage expectations. Imagine if he'd promised two weeks but took three—Captain Kirk wouldn't have been very happy! Let's take a page from Scotty's book. By setting realistic timelines, we can better handle the inevitable bumps in the road and deliver more successful projects. Lesson learned from project Gravel hill.   Backed with research and ideas, Projet Gravel Hill will give us an added advantage to gain market share. But the project tested our project leadership. Here are the keys lessons from our journey: ⨑Integration and Collaboration:  AT12 initial isolation was a significant barrier. YL22's effort to integrate his design process with the team’s workflow ensured that his expertise was effectively utilized. To promote collaboration across disciplines led to innovative solutions and cohesive progress. ⏰Time Management and Resource Allocation: Introducing time management training and providing resources to alleviate stress proved essential. Efficient time management and adequate support are critical in handling high-pressure projects and meeting deadlines. 🧑🤝🧑Team-Building Activities:  Organizing activities like the escape room challenge played a crucial role in rebuilding trust and camaraderie. Or having a coffee morning outside our working office helped us to get ideas. These activities highlighted the importance of collaboration and collective problem-solving, strengthening team bonds. ⏳Flexibility and Adaptability:  The project’s success was also due to the team’s ability to adapt to new strategies and workflows. Flexibility in approach and openness to change are key in navigating complex tasks in the project. Project Gravel Hill demonstrated that with the right approach, most challenges in our project can be overcome.
