New Post: New Weeknd, Playboi Carti & Tate McRae: Which Hot 100 Top 20 Debut Will End Up the Biggest Hit? - https://lnkd.in/g_e3aeDd - After a week in which the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100 was the No. 21 bow of Linkin Park’s “The Emptiness Machine,” this week, three new entries on the chart grace the back half of the top 20. The highest of the three comes from the most established pop star: The Weeknd, whose new Hurry Up Tomorrow gets underway with the No. 14 debut of its lead single “Dancing in the Flames.” Then comes rap star Playboi Carti, whose much-anticipated new song “All Red” lands at No. 15. And finally, Tate McRae’s well-received new single “It’s OK, I’m OK” enters at No. 20. Which of the three songs will have the longest legs? And why have we had so few top 10 debuts on the Hot 100 of late? Billboard staffers answer these questions and more below. 1. “Dancing in the Flames,” the first taste from The Weeknd’s alleged final chapter Hurry Up Tomorrow, bows at No. 14 this week. Is that higher, lower or about where you would have expected for the song? Rania Aniftos: Definitely lower, but I can’t figure out why. Was it because there wasn’t enough build-up between the announcement and release, perhaps? I was expecting the lead single of the project to at least debut in the top 10, especially given how record-breaking After Hours was. Maybe the rest of Hurry Up Tomorrow’s rollout will boost the track. Katie Bain: I’m not surprised to see The Weeknd’s first solo track of the year debut higher than his recent The Idol-bred group efforts, and 14 feels like a good starting point for the song, which I think is one that grows on the ears with each listen. And in that sense, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one keep climbing from here, especially that given his history, we know he’s the king of keeping songs on the Hot 100 for the long run. Jason Lipshutz: Maybe a little lower, considering The Weeknd’s track record of top 10 debuts on the Hot 100 and the relative radio silence preceding this much-hyped new single. To me, the No. 14 debut speaks less to the long-term chart potential of “Dancing in the Flames,” and more about how static the top of the Hot 100 is currently — as Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” spends an 11th week at No. 1 and radio-boosted hits by Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Kendrick Lamar and Morgan Wallen have logged months in the upper frame, new tracks like “Flames” have a tougher time trying to break through in their first weeks of release. If I’m Team Weeknd, I’m cool with a No. 14 debut, with an impetus on trying to push upward this fall. Michael Saponara: First off, solid lead single from Abel. Although, I did think it would debut higher than No. 14 on the Hot 100 with the anticipation heading into

When tackling a topic it will help to find a central character, or team of central characters, to give focus to your story and a heart to the problem. The solution, if there is one, is the journey we as the audience get to experience. If done correctly, we will connect to some emotion. Sadness, anger, anxiety for the main character and depth of the problem.
The owners of Nashville's Fanny's House of Music are preparing to retire. When we do stories about businesses entering a the next chapter, what should we focus on? The people, of course. Do we ever walk away from a story wondering what we could have done differently? Don't look at those as a missed opportunity. Rather, use that to educate yourself for the next story that might be similar. For this, I wish I asked if there was someone who took lessons here but later became more involved in their adult life. What will this look like from their perspective? Is there a neighboring business that has been there for just as long (or longer)? Or, maybe not as long? And did Fanny's offer a warm welcome to the neighborhood? It's okay to leave your story and wish you did things differently! It's actually what makes you better in the long run.

John R. Cash Johnny Cash was an American country singer-songwriter. Most of Cash's music contains themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption, especially songs from the later stages of his career. He was known for his deep, calm, bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his backing band, The Tennessee Three, that was characterized by its train-like chugging guitar rhythms, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, and his free prison concerts. Cash wore a trademark all-black stage wardrobe, which earned him the nickname as the "Man in Black". #JohnnyCash #ManInBlack #GrowthStrategy #ExitStrategy

KISS OFF!! That's the title of a video I recorded earlier, and also similar to some of the words I used when trying to upload it here on LI. For some reason I simply can't upload videos here any more - it just freezes my computer for about 20 minutes! It's probably a hardware issue at my end, but oh blimey it's annoying! If you fancy watching it, and I'm talking about music, content, profit, then here it is on the old youtubes ;-) #thegreatgordino #thecontentmonetisationmachine #contentmonetisation #musicmatters #socialmediamarketing https://lnkd.in/e69ErW6G

👨🏼Last night's b.s. from JAY-Z is one of the biggest reasons I don't watch the Grammy's. The Oscar's aren't much different. 👨🏼🦲What was the b.s.? 👨🏼This is about awarding talent, and this a**clown figures it's a good idea to shut down that talent by calling out his wife never winning album of the year. It's like, get a life. 👨🏼🦲I hear you saying a few things. One, he's an a**clown. Two, he shut down award-winning talent. and third, he called out his wife never winning album of the year. 👨🏼You co-sign this? 👨🏼🦲Co-sign what? 👨🏼I don't know. You don't seem to think him doing that was wrong. Do you? 👨🏼🦲I promise you, I'll answer that question. I just need one point of clarification from you, if that's okay. 👨🏼Fine. 👨🏼🦲What is the connection between him calling out Beyonce never winning album of the year and him shutting down award-winning talent? 👨🏼Every year that she doesn't win, it's him or Kanye or the Black culture shutting down whoever did win; as if they weren't worthy. You don't see that? 👨🏼🦲I've seen some of this, particularly from Kanye. But what JAY-Z said last night was not while someone else was trying to do an acceptance speech. He didn't shame or call out any of the winners. What am I missing? 👨🏼I think you're naive. These people don't like white artists. They think white artists stole all of their music and spotlight. 👨🏼🦲And who exactly are 'these people' that you refer to? 👨🏼I'm not answering that. You're trying to trap me. This is why a lot of people won't have a conversation with you. 👨🏼🦲That's okay. It's hard to own your issues, and I see you struggling a bit. 👨🏼Struggling? No, I know what I'm saying and it's right. You've just been in the DEI fold for too long to see it too. 👨🏼🦲Answer me this. Do you distinguish what Kanye has done and said from what JAY-Z said last night? Or, how lots of people of different races have done and said in years past; this in the aftermath of the Grammy's? 👨🏼It's all one agenda, my friend. 👨🏼🦲And that is what makes you, by definition, a #racist. Take care. We could've easily gotten into it about how: ⚫Kendrick, Kanye, and Beyonce each have at least four Album of the Year nominees, and no wins. ⚫Lauryn Hill was the last Black female to win Album of the Year. ⚫Only two rap albums have ever won Album of the Year, this despite it being THE most popular and one of the most critically acclaimed genre's on the planet. ⚫Awards are subjective and the subjective preferences of Grammy voters have yielded the above three outcomes (and others). But, he wasn't ready for those #facts because he isn't ready for those faces. To him, and so many other people, "they" are all the same.

The most famous #ForbesBillionaires newcomer is Taylor Swift, whose record-breaking, five-continent Eras Tour is the first to surpass $1 billion in revenue. The 34-year-old pop star amassed an estimated $1.1 billion fortune, based on earnings from the blockbuster tour, the value of her music catalog and her real estate portfolio. Swift is the first musician to hit ten-figure status solely based on her songs and performances. https://trib.al/K66mSW8
