The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion." Nurses advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion are instrumental in reshaping healthcare. Their unwavering dedication to equity not only transforms individual experiences but also cultivates a more inclusive healthcare system for generations to come. We want to acknowledge our #HuskyNurses and #HuskyFaculty dedicated to providing quality and equitable healthcare to all. Associate Professor Molly Altman is working on a study exploring the birthing and family building experiences of the queer and trans community in the US and Canada. “One of our hopes around this study is that once we get the results out, what it’s going to do is shine a light on how we really need to do better within our health care systems to support queer and trans families,”-Molly Altman, principal investigator. This Women’s History Month–and every month–H-CAP honors the women who work to provide quality healthcare services to millions of Americans each day. According to the Census Bureau, approximately three-quarters of frontline healthcare workers are women–and women comprise a staggering 86% of healthcare support workers, the majority of whom are women of color. Yet, despite women’s contributions to the healthcare field, gender-based pay gaps persist across the sector. Women deserve equity, full stop. H-CAP is working each day toward a future in which all healthcare jobs are quality, family-sustaining jobs with opportunities to advance in a career.

🌟 Embracing Perseverance: Inspiring as a Nurse and a Woman 🌟 As a woman in healthcare, and particularly as a nurse, I've come to appreciate the profound impact of perseverance in both my professional and personal journey. Here are some reflections on how these roles intersect to inspire and empower: 👩⚕️ **Role Model in Healthcare**: Every day, I strive to embody resilience and dedication in providing compassionate care to my patients. Being a nurse isn't just a job; it's a calling to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. 🌍 **Advocacy and Empowerment**: Beyond patient care, I advocate for inclusivity and equity in healthcare. As a woman, I advocate for gender equality and empowerment in all aspects of life, breaking barriers and stereotypes along the way. 📚 **Continuous Learning and Growth**: The field of healthcare is constantly evolving, requiring ongoing learning and adaptation. I embrace this challenge to stay at the forefront of nursing practice, contributing to the advancement of our profession. 💪 **Inspiring Future Generations**: One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey is inspiring other women to pursue careers in healthcare and beyond. By sharing my experiences and lessons learned, I hope to empower the next generation of leaders and caregivers. 🌟 **Creating a Legacy**: Whether at the bedside or in the community, my goal is to leave a lasting legacy of compassion, strength, and resilience. Every interaction, every challenge overcome, contributes to this legacy. Let's continue to support and uplift one another in our respective journeys as women and professionals. Together, we can make a profound impact on healthcare and society as a whole. 💖 #NurseLife #WomenInHealthcare #Empowerment #Perseverance #Leadership #LinkedInPost

Women’s History Month is celebrated throughout March to commemorate the contributions and achievements of women who shaped American history. March 8th is International Women’s Day celebrating the amazing impact of women in societies worldwide. We acknowledge womanhood in all the complexities of roles as creatives, artists, healers, professionals, entrepreneurs, scientists, inventors, and global change-makers. The 2024 theme is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”. It acknowledges women’s advocacy as a driving force behind societal progress, growing opportunities, and advancing history. Expanding the definition of ‘woman’ and breaking free of antiquated norms and expectations. At HealthRIGHT 360, we advocate for health equity and recognize the disproportionate impact of mass incarceration for drug offenses, stigma of mental illness, and systemic inequities have on women, particularly women of color. Many women are incarcerated for non-violent low-level drug offenses, creating a lasting negative impact on families and communities. Punitive child protective services policies can deter mothers of minor children from seeking help for substance use issues due to fear of losing children in the foster care system. Policies like these lead to exacerbated health disparities for women, increased risk of overdose and incarceration, destabilization of families, and trauma for children. Our commitment to health equity includes advocating for reforms that center on empowerment with supportive services and evidence-based approaches to address the unique needs of women. We celebrate the dedication, passion, and resilience of our own fearless leader Vitka Eisen and the talented women leaders and staff at HR 360! It is local women advocates like you who rise to the call to action, leading the way toward meaningful change. https://lnkd.in/gijKv74r #HealthRIGHT360 #Celebrate #WomenHistoryMonth #InternationalWomenDay

On this International Women's Day, we celebrate the power of community. Our organization is living proof that when mothers in STEMM unite, extraordinary things happen. Our community provides support, a sense of belonging, and a safe space for shared experiences, opportunities, and challenges. We support one another through the highs and lows, proving that together, we can overcome any challenge. Motherhood is a superpower, yet gender stereotypes deeply ingrained in our society continue to feed unconscious biases that rob mothers of opportunities. Our research shows that maternity bias and discrimination are widespread in the STEMM sector, but there is still little awareness of the tremendous impact these systemic obstacles have on women’s careers and well-being. We are working hard to raise awareness and to dismantle these barriers, so that mothers, fathers, and all other caregivers can thrive in their careers and enjoy their family and personal lives. Despite the strides we've made, there's still work to be done. And we need your help. We're proud to be a part of this community and, with your voices, we can make a difference. On this Women’s Day, consider joining our community to help us raise awareness and advocate for mothers and other caregivers in STEMM. For as little as 40 cents a week, you can be part of our growing movement and receive amazing membership benefits. Learn more and become a member here: https://lnkd.in/eTs5We4x Happy International Women's Day! #InternationalWomensDay #MothersInScience #MaternityBias #EmpowerWomen #ChangeTogether

#LatinaHealth The stark disparity in leadership roles within the healthcare sector, particularly in the United States, highlights a significant issue of gender imbalance. While women make up 65% of health workers and are predominantly responsible for household healthcare decisions, they are grossly underrepresented in top executive roles, holding less than 13% of CEO positions in healthcare organizations. This disparity is even more pronounced for #Latinas, who are further underrepresented in these leadership roles. This imbalance is not just a matter of representation; it reflects deeper systemic issues in the way we perceive and value women's contributions in professional fields. The fact that women are the primary decision-makers in healthcare at the household level but are rarely seen in leadership positions in the industry underscores a troubling disconnect. Women's representation in leadership is crucial not just for equality's sake, but for the diverse perspectives and insights they bring, which can lead to more holistic and effective healthcare solutions. The healthcare industry, serving a population that is 50% female and dealing predominantly with products and services used by women, stands to benefit immensely from a leadership that mirrors its consumer base. To address this, it is essential to create pathways for women to ascend to leadership roles, provide mentorship and support, and challenge the stereotypes and biases that often hinder women's professional advancement. By doing so, the healthcare industry can not only achieve greater gender parity but also leverage diverse perspectives for better outcomes. #LatinaProfessionals #LatinaHealth
