Lot 145 Hershey 2024 1923 Hispano-Suiza Type 16T Roadster The Terence E. Adderley Collection $203,500 USD | Sold | Hershey, Pennsylvania RM Sotheby's SOMO | Sotheby's Motorsport Chassis No. 5688 Engine No. 5688 Documents US Title To be offered on Wednesday, 9 October 2024 A Barcelona-built “Hisso,” extraordinarily rare in the United States Part of the Adderley Collection for decades Unshown in recent years; a wonderful opportunity Hispano-Suiza’s name, of course, means Spanish-Swiss, a nod to the origins of engineer Marc Birkigt and to the company’s founding in Barcelona. While the most famous Hispanos of the Classic Era were built at the firm’s factory in France, the Barcelona works was very much in business at the same time, and produced in many cases, versions of the same models for the Spanish market. Among these was the Type 16T, which featured the Type 30 engine, a rather advanced overhead-cam four-cylinder design displacing 2,951 cubic centimeters and rated at 16 horsepower, delivered through a three-speed transmission and multiple-disc clutch. Per Manuel Lage’s La Hispano Suiza, A Pioneer Company: The Alfonso XIII Sports Car, about 956 of these cars were made, all in Barcelona, between 1916 and 1925. The Type 16T offered here may well be the only example of the model in North America, out of about 15 surviving. It was recorded in the 1968 Antique Automobile Club of America roster and in the 1978 and 1980 Hispano-Suiza Society rosters as having been owned by William J. Markley of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, a well-known collector, enthusiast, and frequent Classic Car Club of America exhibitor of the era. The car is believed to have been restored during Mr. Markley’s ownership and to have appeared at the 1967 “Sports Cars in Review” show at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. While the exact date is not known, it is likely that Terence E. Adderley, a fellow Bloomfield Hills resident, acquired the car directly from Mr. Markley, at least 32 years ago, as it was listed with Mr. Adderley by the time of the 1992 HSS roster. The car still wears its original restoration, with original stampings visible on the engine as well as on the serial number plate on the dashboard. An exceptionally scarce Spanish-market Hispano-Suiza with long-term history in the States, this car would be a wonderful, sporting counterpoint to the H6 or J12 in one’s collection, or simply entertaining to enjoy in its own right once awakened from its years on display. It has considerable charm and appeal to any enthusiast. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale

Check out the details 🎯 Remember, this is 1926 ⁉️ The steering wheel 🤠 The headlights 😊 The fuse box 👀 Lot 135 Hershey 2024 1926 Kissel Model 6-55 'Gold Bug' Speedster The Terence E. Adderley Collection $195,250 USD | Sold 😎 | Hershey, Pennsylvania RM Sotheby's SOMO | Sotheby's Motorsport Chassis No. 55-13231 Engine No. 55-13294 Documents US Title Offered on Wednesday, 9 October 2024 One of the great American Jazz Age sports cars; a favorite of celebrities Formerly owned by noted collectors Stan Block, Norman Oliver, and Ray Scherr Well-preserved older restoration in iconic Chrome Yellow and black CCCA Full Classic Kissel, the pride of Hartford, Wisconsin, manufactured an extremely high-quality automobile, which was quite costly and enjoyed favor among celebrities of the 1910s and 1920s. This was never truer than of the company’s sportiest model, the taper-tailed two-passenger speedster, affectionately nicknamed the “Gold Bug” through a promotional contest. Kissel “Gold Bugs” were owned by a who’s who of Roaring Twenties celebrities and socialites, most prominently Amelia Earhart, who drove her example extensively all over the United States. The 6-55 Speedster offered here is recorded by the KisselKar Klub as being one of fewer than 40 intact Speedsters remaining in existence, and one of just three 6-55s known in standard trim, with wood-spoked artillery wheels. Believed to be a very late-production 1926 model, it was previously owned by well-known Classic Car Club of America members Norman and Barbara Oliver of Lewiston, New York, who acquired the car in restored condition from longtime Kissel enthusiast and noted restorer Stan Block of Arizona. The Olivers had the engine fully rebuilt in 2006 to 2007 by Buck Varnon of Michigan; commissioned a new, correct radiator from England; and acquired a correct new-old-stock Trico wiper motor, as supported by notes and invoices included in the file. Eventually the Kissel was sold by the Olivers in early 2014 to noted collector Ray Scherr of California, in whose ownership it was refinished in the proper colors of Chrome Yellow and black. Terence E. Adderley purchased the car the following year, and it has since remained a part of his distinguished Michigan collection. Still every bit the rakish beast of its youth, accented by period-correct Woodlite headlamps, it is a marvelous car for the enthusiast of Jazz Age American machines. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale

🔴 Numbers matching 440-6 Pack 4 speed pistol grip 🟥 🔴 TorRed over White buckets Lot 187 < NO RESERVE ❗ Hershey 2024 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird $125,000 - $175,000 USD | Offered Without Reserve | Hershey, Pennsylvania RM Sotheby's SOMO | Sotheby's Motorsport Chassis No. RM23V0A172637 Engine No. 0A172637 Documents US Title To be offered on Wednesday, 9 October 2024 Retains its original, numbers-matching 440-cu.-in. “Six-Pack” V-8 engine Factory-correct finishes of Tor Red (EV2) over white bucket-seat (P6XW) interior Four-speed manual gearbox with “pistol grip” shifter; Dana 9¾-inch rear axle with 3.54:1 Sure Grip differential Features iconic “Tic-Toc-Tach” combination gauge and “Beep, Beep” Road Runner Horn Rides on 15-inch Rallye wheels shod in period-correct Goodyear Polyglas GT tires With its towering rear spoiler, streamlined nose cone, and outsized graphics, the Plymouth Superbird represents a summit in the muscle car era and remains one of America’s most iconic automotive shapes. Designed using rented wind tunnels and engineers on loan from NASA, the Superbird was aimed solely at luring NASCAR King Richard Petty back into the Plymouth family after his departure for Ford a year earlier. The slippery car could reach speeds over 200 mph on the track and succeeded in bringing the King back to Plymouth, where he won 18 races the following season. Unfortunately, the car’s success led to its downfall with NASCAR, which effectively banned aerodynamic aids in 1971, forcing Plymouth to abandon the Superbird after just one year. Sporting the hallmarks of a full restoration, this Superbird is finished in its handsome factory dress of Tor Red (EV2) over a white bucket-seat interior without console (P6XW). The car’s fender tag states it was constructed with a Dana 9¾-inch rear axle, 3.54:1 Sure Grip differential, and four-speed manual transmission with iconic “pistol grip” shifter. The cabin features MOPAR’s iconic “Tic-Toc-Tach” combination gauge as well as the Road Runner’s signature “Beep, Beep” Looney Toons-inspired horn. Most importantly, the car has been confirmed to retain its original, numbers-matching 440-cubic-inch “Six-Pack” V-8 engine fed by a trio of Holley two-barrel carburetors. Long preferred for their more user-friendly driving experience, 440 “Six-Pack” Superbirds are prized by enthusiasts looking to enjoy their winged machines on the open road. With its numbers-engine, handsome factory livery, and pistol grip shifter, this Superbird has much to recommend it for the MOPAR enthusiast looking to conjure a bit of the King’s motorsport magic. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale

LT1 V-8 engine, Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, and 12-bolt Positraction rear differential AACA National First Prize and Grand National winner in 2019 Awarded Concours Gold honors at the 2015 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Certificate of Authenticity from marque expert Jerry MacNeish issued in 2024 The winning bidder will be offered a one-year complimentary membership to the Antique Automobile Club of America. In addition, each AACA award won to date will be transferred to the new buyer’s name, in the event he/she wishes to continue to show the car to achieve the Grand National Award designation in the future. Renowned for his highly successful big-block engine swaps, Don Yenko recognized the impending challenges posed by insurance companies tightening premiums on high-displacement muscle cars. In a stroke of ingenuity, he convinced Chevrolet to equip his specially designated Novas with the same high-output LT1 350-cubic-inch small-block engines used in the Z28 Camaros and Corvettes. Through this clever adjustment, the Yenko Deuce was born. Built upon a lightweight, base-trim Nova with bench seats and rubber floor mats, each Yenko Deuce was assembled at the factory with the impressive LT1 engine, dual exhaust, power brakes with front discs, heavy duty springs, front and rear sway bars, and an upgraded cooling system. Power met the road through a robust 12-bolt Positraction rear differential with a unique 4.10:1 gear ratio, while discerning customers had the choice of either the Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission or Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission, both fitted with special race shifters. Upon arrival at Yenko’s Canonsburg, Pennsylvania dealership, his team of mechanics finalized the metamorphosis from COPO Novas to Yenko Deuces by outfitting them with SS wheels, a Dixco hood tachometer, and Yenko’s array of distinctive badges, decals, and stripes. Any authentic Yenko product is a rare find, especially given the hard lives high-performance cars often endure. This well-known Yenko Deuce, cherished for over four decades by its original owner and masterfully restored to correct specifications, presents a truly unique opportunity for automotive enthusiasts of every stripe. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale
