Senior Paralegal at Kingsley Napley (Regulatory) | Top Legal LinkedInfluencer | Ex FCA | CLLS Committee Member | CLSC Committee Member | GROW Mentee | 93% Professional | Young Professional Ambassador |
Starting my new role this week at Kingsley Napley has been an incredibly refreshing experience. The welcoming energy and supportive environment have left me feeling genuinely rejuvenated and excited for the journey ahead. It’s evidently clear when a firm values its people it fosters collaboration, and promotes a culture where everyone is empowered to succeed and in the process improves productivity! This experience has really highlighted how much a company’s culture can shape your experience, both personally and professionally. As we approach #ApplicationSeason, I want to emphasise the importance of considering not just the job role, but the overall culture of a firm when deciding where to apply whether it be for a #TrainingContract or #LegalApprenticeship application. Here’s why culture is so important: 1. Long-term success and growth: A company with a strong, positive culture invests in its employees' development, offering opportunities for growth and progression. It’s a place where you can build a meaningful career, not just hold a job. 2. Well-being and job satisfaction: The right environment impacts how you feel about work. A supportive, inclusive culture promotes work-life balance, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging. It’s where you’ll feel energised and motivated, not drained or undervalued. 3. Collaboration and innovation: A healthy company culture encourages open communication, teamwork, and creativity. When you’re in a workplace where ideas are shared openly, and everyone’s input is valued, it leads to more innovative thinking and better overall outcomes. 4. Values alignment: Finding a firm whose values align with your own is essential. Whether it’s their commitment to diversity, sustainability, or employee well-being, working for a company that reflects your principles makes for a more fulfilling and engaging career. As you explore new opportunities this application season, don’t just focus on the role or salary. Take the time to learn about the culture. Ask about the team dynamics, leadership approach, and how they invest in their people. It can make all the difference between a job you simply tolerate and a career you love. I am excited for what’s ahead at Kingsley Napley and proud to be part of such an inspiring team. 🌟 #NewBeginnings #CompanyCulture #CareerAdvice #KingsleyNapley #ApplicationSeason

I learned some work talk/life lessons today: 1. Delivering a talk professionally to colleagues/peers/adults requires a whole different type of preparation to that of primary school children; far less structure, must be prepared for interruptions, should maybe have backup thoughts. 2. Don't make assumptions about what your audience may know about; if you think 8 year olds might know about CBBC and you prepare for just that you'll get thrown when they ask you about Eminem and Snoop Dogg. 3. Be prepared for anything that gets thrown your way; getting asked inappropriate questions in a career talk should be handled in the same way as someone asking for time off because their sea monkey passed away. Be respectful, honest and try not to laugh. 4. Kids think the BBC is anywhere between 4 years old and 3500 years old..... I spoke with two different primary school classes today for about 2 hours in total. I was mentally exhausted after hundreds of questions (some relevant, some not so much). It was chaotic, some looked bored, some looked really excited that their hobbies could really be turned into a job, and I realise it's easier to describe things to adults than children! I admire school teachers for the patience and understanding they show. I got to say how much I loved my job and realised I really meant it. And maybe one of the 40ish kids I spoke to will be encouraged to go get a job working with people they like, wearing clothes they want to, doing something they find fun and rewarding and being able to be themselves. And to top it off, I got a plant to say thanks; spoke right to my heart! Which is what I'm holding in the photo attached to this post. I'd encourage anyone to do some kind of outreach, it doesn't take up much time in the grand scheme of things but you'll get something out of it at the very very least! Thanks to Ryan Pasi for organising with Quarry Brae Primary School! P.S. Apparently the Backstreet Boys are as old as Elvis and Craig Charles isn't known to 10 years olds 🤯 #bbcgetin #bbcapprenticeships #careerevent #careerguidance #apprenticeships #careers #jobs #futuretalent #careers #recruitment #earlycareers #learninganddevelopment #primaryeducation #glasgow #scotland #stemcareers

B2C/B2B Marketing Specialist & UX Design| Enhancing Knowledge & Strategies | SEO, Excel, UX Design, Google Analytics Certified
“We can do hard things” -Glennon Doyle A month at my new job has already gone by, and I’ve had the pleasure of learning so much about how to do this job. Two skills of mine that have been sharpened this month is learning how to do a job very quickly and adaptability. I had a week of training and a week of shadowing before starting this job. A job that is a complete departure from what I studied in college. So despite the 2 weeks of training, I was still walking into the unknown. I got to learn how to use several different platforms, how to present information that was not covered in training, how to manage a classroom, and how to interact with 3 year olds 😂. While taking in this information, I also had to learn how to complete all of the important “new to the country” tasks that laid ahead of me. Thankfully, I had the help of my supervisors through every step. I had to adapt to a lot and it’s been hard, but it’s also been a wonderful month. I am curious to see how this next month will go. #adapt #grow #lifetimelearner

3x Boy Dad | Career Coach | Student Success, Program Management | I help people build genuine relationships to make job hunts less painful and careers more joyful
My 6-year-old can do hard things. If he can, so can I. And so can you. I'm helping coach his basketball team (which has been a BLAST to a level I wasn't expecting). Last week when the head coach told the boys to switch dribbling hands, my son ended up in tears because he couldn't get it going with the left. He assumed because he wasn't good at it then, he'd never get there. (A faulty assumption I think we all make pretty often.) Last night at practice, when the coach had them do it again, I saw fear in my boy's eyes (the same fear that would take the heart of me!! Couldn't resist. Hope there are some LOTR fans out there...). Then he proceeded to dribble his heart out. Slowly...but more and more confidently each moment...and then with pure joy as he recognized his improvement. When I asked afterward what his favorite part of practice was, it was that moment hands down. You can do hard things too. And they can bring you incredible joy and fulfillment in the end. Whether it's a brutal class, the internship or job hunt, a tough project or relationship at work, a side business you're starting, learning a new skill, parenting, or whatever else, I know you can push through and find that joy and fulfillment on the other side. I can never tell you how long it will take, of course. And to be clear, I know that sometimes there are absolutely hard things you SHOULDN'T keep going with. Figuring out which ones you should and shouldn't continue pushing through is one of the big challenges in this life. But often, especially with the most important things, it can help to remember that you WILL improve over time as you work at them. And you will find joy in that outcome. Keep going. #dadlife #youcandohardthings #careerdevelopment #lotr #itisnotthisday
